Last Saturday to my surprise as I went on Hulu to watch all three of the SG:U episodes did I find that Sanctuary was renewed for a 2nd Season. And have to wonder why?
Watched the show with my mom til we both agreed it was awful(me around the third episode with out improvement in any aspect, my mom at the episode with the horny aura tribbles, and my mom likes the most awful of shows) and promptly quit the show not expecting it to last very long.
Now I find out the show not only completed the season, but got renewed. Is SciFi(fuck the new spelling) just desperate for a new franchise series and is giving this time to get legs? Do they just need programing to fill slots? Was the point where the show starts turning around much later in the series?
Mainly I am just curious if the show was shit all the way through or should I give it another chance. That maybe it picks up later.

Re: Sanctuary: WTF?
It got moderately better in the second half of the 1st season. It's a cute show and very cheap to produce.
For I dipt into the future, far as human eye could see,
Saw the Vision of the world, and all the wonder that would be;
Saw the heavens fill with commerce, argosies of magic sails,
Pilots of the purple twilight dropping down with costly bales;
Heard the heavens fill with shouting, and there rain'd a ghastly dew
From the nations' airy navies grappling in the central blue;

Seemed they slowly bailed out on the whole greenscreen only thing, and how have horrible 24/Bourne trilogy knockoff editing.

Didn't see much of the first season, but what they're showing now seems to be passable (for campy fantasy). The 3D from last episode was noticeably cheap - really, really cheap. This is probably one of those types of shows that could grow into something decent if it survives some growing pains.
There are only two ways the Federation defeats the empire: Either some hot shot idiot of a captain uses the cosmic undo button known time travel (in a poorly written 2-hour special) to undo however the Empire ended up in the Milky Way, or the leftovers join the rebellion after being horribly crushed to provide them with cannon fodder. The OT plays out like normal with any "federation" support being not even notable enough to get a foot-note in the history books.
