Melniboneans, obviously.
In my talons, I shape clay, crafting life forms as I please. If I wish, I can smash it all. Around me is a burgeoning empire of steel. From my throne room, lines of power careen into the skies of Earth. My whims will become lightning bolts that raze the mounds of humanity. Out of chaos, they will run and whimper, praying for me to end their tedious anarchy. I am drunk with this vision. God: the title suits me well.

Platypi (sp?). There's nothing quite as deranged as having a duck-billed, egg laying mammal.

What do you mean that it's not a fantasy race!?
"What's that smear on the wall, Mommy?"
"That used to be Spider-Man, honey."
"What killed him?"
"A zipper. Some said it was velcro, but the Daily Bugle said it was a zipper, and I believe the Bugle."
"Wow, he musta been real stupid, huh?"
"Yes honey, he was."

Dragons--quintisential to any fantasy world

Faeries.

I don't know why, but I've always liked the idea of faeries...

And elves to a lesser extent. Particularly anime elves and Tolkien's.

Tolkien's Elves. The tradgic hero aspect of them made them so fascinating. I always though Tolkien did a good job of making one feel the age and regret of the race. Very interesting

And the Myrddrall/Trolloc race for sheer terrifying badassness.

Do Wc3's Pandaren count?

Illithids for the sheer brutality and multiplanar dominations, Kobolds and dragson, I've been fascinated with dragons since I was a wee youngin'.
