New F4 Trailer

Post by Elheru Aran »

Couldn't find the last thread on the new Fantastic 4, so here.

https://youtu.be/POBI7OhGB18 (can't figure out how to hotlink the video)

Initial impressions... underwhelming. Doctor Doom, especially, is absolute shite. Thing's look is... while somewhat of a departure, not unprecedented. Looks like Johnny and Sue's dad is black (if I've identified the various characters correctly)?
It's a strange world. Let's keep it that way.

Remove the 's' from the http's', and simples;

I was distinctly underwhelmed by the previous trailer, but this one has actually pulled me. Mainly because I like the actors they've chosen for it. They're good actors. They don't seem to be hamming it up, but they don't seem to be like 'GRR ANGST' either. Just playing it straight.

I rather liked the previous trailer more. I'm kind of split on the actors. I am kind of so-so on Jamie Bell and Kate Mara, don't really have an opinion on the other two members of the FF and like the casting for Dr. Storm.

Anyway, from what I've read and seen this version is taking the dimensional travel aspect of the Ultimate FF as the basis for their origin, among other things. That version of the FF had some creepy explanation for their powers that recalls the fact that before it got back in the superhero business Marvel was known for monster and romance (relationship) comics. The FF and Spider-man just combined the two.

I am glad that they went CG with the Thing but he looks a little bit too much like various rock creatures that have been in movies over the years. Maybe they are trying to avoid being too similar to "Korg" from Thor: The Dark World?
By the pricking of my thumb,
Something wicked this way comes.
Open, locks,
Whoever knocks.
