In the paternal line, he claimed to be descended from a member of House Plumm, of the Westerlands, but was very ethnically mixed otherwise: he was called Brown Ben for a reason, after all. He had Braavosi, Summer Islander, Ibbenese, Qohorik, Dothraki, and Dornish ancestry, as well as 'a drop' of Targaryen blood. More specifically, his mother was Dothraki, and his (presumably paternal) grandmother was half Ibbenese, half Qohorik. I suppose his ideal actor would be a somewhat older Tiger Woods :) , but Hoji Fortuna looks like he should fit the role pretty well.

I thought Brown Ben Plumm was in his fifties at the time of the books?
Turns out that a five way cross over between It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, the Ali G Show, Fargo, Idiocracy and Veep is a lot less funny when you're actually living in it.

I forgot about that, but you're right. He looks fine for the role.

The show has made me more interested in the Summer Islanders from the book.

They could always give him a beard and dye part of it gray.

That always seems to work.

Of course, Tyrion and Brienne still look too old, but that can't really be helped short of CGI'ing every shot Peter Dinklage and Gwendolyne Christie are in.

WiC has now said HBO has indicated that this guy has not been cast. So ... oh well.

It was just a matter of time before the porn version came out. Even though this trailer for Game of Bones: Winter Is Cumming has neither nudity nor sex in it, the title alone might make it NSFW:

Just two comments:

The "actress" playing Margery looks like Natalie Dorimer. 8)

"I am Daneris Stormborn, MILF of Dragons."

You can see the first episode here. NSFW!

Wonder if they'll give him the full treatment of the book, including roots growing through/around his skull? Ugh

At least with a guy that big, most people (including moi) won't notice the few inches in height discrepancy between the differing actors.
Spoiler
Wonder what the chances are that they'll cast another actor for "Ser Robert Strong"?

Spoiler
Apparently Jason Momoa was offered the role just so they could have him back

That'd be something to look out for.

Heh yeah that was pretty funny :)

The Season 4 trailer hits this Sunday. HBO have posted snippets of it on the GOT Vine, as well as a 16 second teaser.

It looks awesome.

And additional vine previews:

Dammit I wish April would hurry up already.

westeros.org has a shot by shot commentary on the trailer which starts here and goes towards page 1:

Seeing Jamie's Iron hand in the trailer reminds me of a question I had while reading the books...

Why does Jamie use the iron hand rather than some sort of apparatus that he can strap a sword to? I understand the ability to change grips is important to sword play, but given his skill in his non dominant hand this would be an improvement.

Does Sansa do anything useful in the books? She does absolutely nothing of note in the serie other than being Joffrey's plaything.

It actually wouldn't. It's not so much the lack of hand as it is the lack of wrist. A huge amount of the fine manipulation of position of the blade comes from movement of the wrist. I can't even imagine an angle he could affix the blade at that would allow him to both parry and cut effectively. He'd essentially be cutting down the range of motion of his blade to a tiny fraction of what it needs to be.

Training the way he does, on the other hand (pun intended) means that he just has to reprogram his muscle memory and instincts a bit.
