Games, their rankings?

What parts of games are allowed as official?

I hear the general story is acceptable, if so, does that mean that we can include stuff like jedi being created from regular people through the use of crystals infused with the force?

This sounds similar to the old sith artifacts wich could imbue the user with special powers.

Games are cannon but they are at the bottom of a long list, starting with the movies.

Yes but as I've heard not all info from a game is taken into account, like game engine specific stuff, only the basic story.

Some of the story lines you can take as cannon. Like SW: Tie Fighter about the hunt for Grand Admiral Zaarin.

I think by the same logic that JK2 can also be taken as official, so there really was a Desann and there really is a Valley of the Jedi and the Remnant did succeed in imbuing people with the force.
Cool.

Yeah, JK2 (my favorit game at the moment) and all that other games stuff will be official I guess.
Btw, this allows us to include imperial starship Doomgiver into our tactis.
It's quite an interesting design, featuring pods filled with walkers and troops which can be quickly deployed by launching the pods in a manner similar to escape pods.
Will be useful for quick assaults.

Yeah, too bad it was easily destroyed by a single strafing run from obsolete fighters.

The only reason it was destroyed was because it had no real defensive weapons I could see, relied mostly on fighters and a few hangar based weapons, it had strong shields, wich Kyle downed, and wich was the only reason Rogue Squadron took it down.

Also, the communications equipment had to be operated by Force-jumping around a maze of computer consoles suspended in a bottomless pit. That was an interesting design aspect.

That was stupid I thought, counter productive unless it was made for Jedi trained people only and the designer was paranoid about frequencies and shit.

The way I rationalized it was that there was some sort of service repulsorcart that technicians used, and Kyle just didn't have access to it. But even that is a retarded design. Especially for those poor techs also stranded away from the service cart (who just happen to be waiting for you in those damned hanging computer rooms).

I think that the general story line from games are acceptable, as well as any new tech introduced. However there's obviously stuff from games you can't accept- the non-Newtonian flight mechanics of the X-wing games for instance, along with the idea that a single fighter can pose a serious threat to an ISD.

I like this policy because the games do give new tech that's pretty useful for vs debating ie the game Force Commander.

It's a bollocks game, but it swells the Imperial armoury considerably. They get a specialised Anti Aircraft walker, as well as two types of indirect fire repulsorlift artillery platforms and a mobile shield disabler.

How do people order information from the two role-playing games (WEG's D6 SW vs. WOTC's D20 SW)?

I say only the events in games are canon

Nooooo! Don't take away my AT-AAs and repulsorlift artillery!

A thing on the Doomgiver's comm array:

Perhaps normally there are walkways connecting all of the cabines, but some of them were removed as soon as the Imps recognized there was a spy onboard, to prevent him from accessing them.

Perhaps, but as with my proposed repulsorcart idea, it's still a bad idea compared to a normal communications/code room.

And plus, it didn't help at all. Kyle was able to easily navigate the bottomless pit and set the proper code. I would think that the Admiral would have foreseen the problem of Jedi boarding parties, seeing as his mission in designing the ship and training the Reborn was to go kill a bunch of Jedi.

Actually, the "stuff" may be real, but game play, nope.

I see no reason why the technology from the games can't be used for debates, as long as there are no claims of, say, TIE stealth fighters being common in the Imperial forces.

And, yeah, a lot of the level design in JK2 was pretty lame.... it suffered from Dark Forces syndrome (remember being inside the Executor in that game? Did anybody think ANY of that level design made sense?).

It did indeed suffer from Dark Forces syndrome. Not only the level design, but what the fuck was up with having to go through like a million missions without a lightsabre, and then like a million where Kyle only sort of kicks ass? The fuck!
A lot of the levels reminded me of Red Faction, which pretty much sucked ass.

Whipping out your lightsaber and going bug fucking nuts on a whole bar full of thugs is soooooooooo satisfying, though... ;)

Very true. It's just a shame that you had to wait until like the eighth mission to be able to do that, though.
