Interesting Perspective on the Last Jedi

Post by Darth Yan »

One of the blogs I visit had the authors impressions of the Last Jedi, and he gave an explanation for why he felt it fell flat.

Essentially the difference is that TLJ is heavily derived from early christian martyrdom, with the belief that suffering is ennobling and that only through it can we reveal our true selves. It thinks suffering is NECESSARY.

Thing is, the OT is based on Jungian thought, in which while suffering HAPPENS and can help reveal our true nature it isn't NECESSARY. This creates a tonal disconnect.

But anyway read the post. It's at the very least an interesting take on the whole thing.
