Most people type very quickly on a discussion board or NG. The Delete/Edit function would be welcome. It might be exploited by Village Idiots, but how many times does, "I never said that" whenever everyone can see you did work in your favor?

At the very least, allow them a chance to recant their words totally, even if you don't allow deleting.

I should have written "Editing" instead of "Deleting" up there...

About all the preview button practically does is allow you to spot formatting errors. For real errors, for some mysterious reason, you'll never notice them until you hit send. Then you look at it again, and somehow all the flaws in your post becomes readily apparent.

Really.

Definately agreed. I dont know how many times I post something and then finally realize, "Well that was stupid." That's why editing is a good thing, for us boneheads who make typos that make you sound idiotic.

Yes and edit button would be fabulous, when you edit a message it would leave the date and time it was edited, and say a link to see what the message looked like before hand.
