Imperial Palace on Coruscant.

Post by GTGear2000 »

Hi,I was wondering what Imperial Palace exactly was...I've heard it housed the Imperial Senate but then i've also heard it was Palpatines personal headquarters.Which one was it? Also are there any pics of exterior and interior?

It's Palpatine's residence. The Senate building is a completely different structure.

Yes. In I, Jedi, it's described as one utterly massive structure, though it has several peaks and a few different towers and spires that connect to the same base.

Since the Temple is still standing by ROTJ, I wouldn´t be surprised if they retconned his palace to be the same building, or maybe a summer palace? :P

No, it's totally different. The Imperial Palace and Jedi Temple don't look anything like each other whatsoever.

that's probaly true but the fact they both share the same basic structure is very ironic (of course the Sith used to be Jedi)

IIRC after ROTS Palpie took over the Jedi Temple for his use

No, they don't share the same basic structure. The only similarity is that they're both smaller on the top than they are at the bottom. I'd go find that image from TIE Fighter but I don't know where one is kept and it's a pain in the ass to Google "imperial palace".

Its also far closer to the apperance of the Palace in the Illustrated Universe.

As I recall, the NR placed their new Senate in the depths of the structure.

I think one of the novels described it as having something like 25,000 rooms, including one big enough to hold an entire Victory Class Star Destroyer (the "star destroyer" bit is from the Illustrated Guide).

It's called a palace. According to the EU Palpatine built up and expanded upon the pre-existing Presidential Palace.

That's an understatement if the images are to be trusted. You could probably fit a few (if not a lot) of Presidential Palaces inside the Imperial Palace.

The palace in Dark Forces 2 was Kyle Katarns, after the formation and fall again of the Republic that would have occured if Katarn had turned evil. Theres no reason to assume it wasn't massively modified between the two periods and are the same building underneath.

As for whats in it, probably a lot of the key imperial administration and personnel who allow the Emperor to control the fleet, intelligence etc. And all of its services are probably internal for security reasons. That could fill up a fair bit of the palace, leaving some really really really big rooms for Palpatines bedroom and attached en-suite, fly in wardrobe, and escape ship.
