That is entirely irrelevant. There is only so much available energy per unit area from solar radiation. No matter how good the solar cells are they can not absorb more energy than is there.

But what if the energy is stored in capacitors?

Or perhaps batteries. Still, assuming that the TIE operates in an area with, say, Earth level solar radiation, which is ridiculously high, they would only be able to store minute amount of energy compared to its performance. If they are indeed solar panels, they would be for the emergency life support and comm system only...

At one AU from a Sol-like star, the solar panels at 80 metres square and assuming one hundred percent emissivity and similar solar battery efficiency, the TIE can absorb something in the range of 1e5 watts.

Or some four to the power of eight joules per hour - that is roughly the energy released by the complete combustion of twenty kilogrammes of coal...

I found that a 24x31 foot panel only generates 50 watts....gosh that is soo low.

Btw...the TIE Defender was developed just before the Battle of Endor and was being tested during the Battle somewhere else.

Cyaround,

P.S.- CCG descriptions counts as official right? If not then screw what I said about the T/D

Wrong. The Defender was built, tested and put in servive before Endor. As per Tie Fighter.
