I know cheap Dell laptops are just that: cheap.
But on the other hand, the price is only $667 after applying a $75 off coupon and the free shipping.

Refurb Dell Inspiron 1100
Celeron 2.0 GHz
256MB memory
15' XGA LCD
30 GB 5400 RPM HD
DVD
Battery
OS: Win XP Home

1 year warranty.

Yeah, it doesn't have CDRW but that's why I have a desktop machine.

It's not too bad a deal considering that I paid $550 for the Gateway Solo 1150 that it's replacing.

Not a bad price ... but still, it's a Dell laptop. A cheap Dell laptop.

It's a cheap Dell Laptop, but it does have a one year warrantee. If I were you, I'd read it carefully, decide how I'd feel if the thing blew up a year and a day from now, and then buy it.

After wandering around ....

Save up some more. You can often find refurbished IBM Thinkpads for under $1000 (T23 is still a good machine) and with a similar warranty.
