Galactic Battlegrounds Display Problem

Post by DaZergRock54444 »

About a week or so ago, I acquired the Galactic Battlegrounds games from GoG.com, thinking that they would provide a nice little nostalgia trip.

I have not yet been able to play them, because the in game graphics are so severely distorted such as to make the game unplayable. Looking around for fixes (primarily relating to DirectDraw) has yielded no significant change.

I'd be fine with some weird coloring and some slight issues with certain moving environment objects, but not being able to read the text boxes that precede the mission is disappointing.

I am running an Asus M11BB with an AMD A10-6700 (with the associated Radeon HD 8670D) , 12 gigs of RAM, and 64-bit Win7.

Any ideas?

You have of course updated the BIOS on the motherboard and all the drivers with the newest ones from the AMD website?

Yep. Just double checked those. Latest drivers from AMD and I have the latest BIOS that Asus is offering.

Those might be the problem. I know quite a few old games that can't work with new drivers.
It has become clear to me in the previous days that any attempts at reconciliation and explanation with the community here has failed. I have tried my best. I really have. I pored my heart out trying. But it was all for nothing.

You win. There, I have said it.

Now there is only one thing left to do. Let us see if I can sum up the strength needed to end things once and for all.

So... pretty much nothing I can do then except find some old system that still runs then?

Report the issue on their forums. GoG has been pretty good at patching games for things like this, but it may take a while.

After checking GoG's forums (thank you Edi), it turns out that AMD's Morphological Filtering setting in Catalyst was the culprit all along.
Therefore, solved.
