List
Somewhat counter intuitively, a lot of the best offensive cannon traits aren't to be found from escorts and raiders but dreadnoughts and carriers (e.g. target rich environment). Most are lockbox and lobi-exclusive, meaning they're going to be expensive to obtain.

I do have target rich environment trait already. For some reason I kept on thinking it boosts beams, rather than any weapon. So this is one which goes on my pilot escorts, The other useful one seems to be super charged weapons, which I don't have. Since we are allowed only 5 starship traits, I think I most probably have enough.

On another note, got the piezo electric cannon. I am not sure if its a crock or a glitch, but after upgrading it to level 14 gold quality, it only does half the damage compared to other polaron cannons of equivalent rank and grade. So even though it gave an extra 15% polaron damage due to the set bonuses, that is wiped out by having one weaker cannon (since my escort has 4 fore cannons and one fore projectile and 2 aft omnidirectional arrays). It might give a little bit more bonus because one of the aft omnidirectional arrays is polaron based, but doesn't seem that worth it.

I have gone for the following traits for my escort

emergency weapon cycle
target rich environment
load viral torpedo
go for the kill
preferential targeting

Preferential targeting synergises with go for the kill. Also since I use cannon rapid fire and beam fire at will, some of the other cool traits won't help me much. Instead I am using powers which don't have a similar cool down to those (ie not cannon scatter volley). Viral torpedo works well with tactical team and also with my microprojectile launcher.

For TRE you must have the Kelvin Dreadnought, is it as good as the stats suggest? I looked on the exchange and they were going for ~300M.

I got the Kelvin Dreadnought a while ago. I don't recall it being that much fun, but it could simply be me. I think I ended up using its phaser broadside console more than I used the ship. LOL. As a result of not using it much, I don't think I actually tested it on the higher difficulty levels like some of my other ships to see how it handles.

Stats wise, it does look impressive. However I don't remember using any special abilities beyond the basic three types ie science, engineering or tactical. For some specialise ships I make use of intelligence, pilot and temporal operative abilities to enhance the basic three. So I guess its a good as damage dealing device, and if you use the quantum phaser set you can do a good frontal blast as well.

Done the Arena of Sompek quest. Its fun, but the prize seems lacklustre. The module does less damage than exothermic fire, has a longer recharge time and the latter has duty officers which boost its ability.

Reddit has a screenshot that makes me wonder how Cryptic goes about naming DOFFs. Human involvement in the process seems unlikely

I am thinking of building a new ship which works by firing a spherical burst attack around it.

I am thinking of the consoles with the new multi mission ships, particularly the Omni-Directional Tachyon Wave Siphon console. Combined with photonic shockwave and certain traits like delphic shockwave to enhance the photonic shockwave. But this leaves me with essentially two spherical burst attacks.

Advance research vessels also have a Tachyon Particle Field Emitter which does similar things.

Operation star cruisers also have the Dampening Wave Emitter which has its own spherical blast.

However the problem is I only have two spherical attacks, one console and the other from the photonic shockwave trait. Does anyone know of any other way to get more.

The Breach event is back, Cryptic have listened to players and shortened it which makes it far more practical to repeatedly run for players who have ten or more characters. Interestingly they've decided to re-introduce the Phoenix prize pack at the same time, which has instantly gobbled up a shitload of dilithium and caused the exchange rate to drop from ~290 to ~225. Everyone was expecting Cryptic not to do this until/unless the rate climbed back to where it was before.

I was glad that when I last converted a few days ago that I retained more than half my refined dil- I've bought 10,000 Zen in the last few days. Having bought all the cross-faction ship packs save the Vesta I'm not going to blow any on stuff like lockbox keys- instead I'm holding off until the much-anticipated T6 Vor'cha finally makes an appearance!

I might do the breach then if it's been made more practical to do with multiple chars, Also got a Foundry project in the works atm I need to still check few things before I start working on the story part, might ask here for testers once the project is an condition I think it's worthy of being published (oh and just 1 thing if you guys do test that project, it would be lovely if you would say here what grammar/spelling issues there are here rather then just saying that those exist as I'm not a native english speaker so "there's bad grammar/spelling" tells me nothing in and of it itself).

Can't you just ask for a volunteer to bounce the script via PM or email? a) Playtesting might not see all the paths, b) scripts are easier to read than game text (sometimes)

the playtesting is part of the foundry mechanic, you need at least 5 unique reviews to make a mission public, I "test" is a wrong term, my bad there and review would be more correct.

As for the script sure if someone is willing to proof read it for me I'm willing to PM/E-Mail it but only if they're willing to volunteer and can do so in reasonble timetable.

It is greatly more practical, not like last year when getting ten toons through Mirror Invasion would take 3 fucking hours! Also of note is that it's a double XP weekend too, perfect time to put the hammer down when going after ship masteries!

Might give the phoenix prize a try again. I got most of what I wanted from that last time, aside for the Kobali ship.

Also they made adjustments to the sompek lightning kit. Before it did less damage than other damage dealing kits. Now it does more damage, has a knockback and ignores 50% shields.

The players on the STO forums made a good point, that the dilithium that you were going to spend on upgrades would be better spent on Phoenix packs because one of the uncommon rewards is a Phoenix Universal Tech upgrade.

Those upgrades have 4 times the tech points of a Superior tech upgrade without the associated cost. Without knowing the probabilities for each level of rarity it's impossible to calculate the exact cost per upgrade- the bundle of 10 I opened contained the equivalent of 20 upgrades so it averages 2,000 dil for 51,200 tech points, vs 1,885 for 12,800. The only snag is that the Phoenix upgrades offer the standard quality improvement chance instead of the doubled that you get with the craft-able experimental upgrades.

The hard part for me is how much dil I should put into phoenix packs vs how much Zen I should buy given the current exchange rate.

Well all I got to show from the phoenix prize packs is a few DOFFs and 95 phoenix tech upgrades. Meh. Wanted the Kobali ship. Too bad you can't sell them or else I would have purchased them from the exchange.

I just want the Risian cruise ship, but that's an epic, so it's rather unlikely I'll ever get that one.

It's Ultra Rare, actually. So far none of my packs have yielded more than a Very Rare- as I already have all the ships at Epic, the ones I want and currently lack are the Bulwark Dreadnought and the Attack Ship.

Through a combination of Phoenix Boxes and Zen purchasing (the latter far more than the former), for all intents and purposes ALL my dilithium is gone. On the flipside my Zen balance has never been as high as it is right now!

Yay. Even more powerful ships with the 26th temporal dreadnought. Looks like it will go well with the quantum phase set since it also has its own gravitic lance.

Definitely something to consider.

Cost of Star Trek Attack Wings miniature: $39
Cost of shipping: $5
Having a Battle Cloak on my T6 Sovereign: Priceless

(although I just looked at the Amazon page, and it's $10 cheaper now so RIP me)

How did you acquire said cloak, and what ships is it compatible with?

It's a three-piece set with the T5 Assault Cruiser Refit, T6 Intel Assault Cruiser and T6 Command Assault Cruiser consoles. Which means you can only use it with the Assault Cruisers and their Fleet versions, aka the Sovereign-class.

Problem is that you need the bloody toy just to get access to the command assault variant, otherwise you're SOL. Is Attack Wing really that awesome?

Hell if I know, it's one of those miniatures board games and they're not my thing. The little Ent-E model is pretty nice looking though, and it has a little stand so I can put it on a desk or bookshelf or something.

Really I got it just because I wanted the ship, more specifically the console that comes with the ship, so I could give my T6 Sovvie a Battle Cloak.

I have no regrets, other than the fact the price went down by $10 less than a week after I got it. But whatever, such is life.

I'm at the point in the game that my main sci toons have claimed masteries for all the ships under their command and have to put together effective builds for them. They're pretty much blank slates in terms of gear and stuff- I'm going to look to the forums for advice on what ships to use, etc.
