Ah. I thought it might actually have something to do with that.

... aaaaand now we've got Ferengi Lockboxes, complete with a D'Kora Marauder whose console does this.

Good lord. It comes with a win button.

Yeah, this new lockbox thing is pretty disgusting. I don't care about the I-Win Ferengi ship, wouldn't fly one anyways, ugly little buggers they are. But that whole new currency store with ridiculous prices considered what lockbox keys cost... wow, just wow.

Too bad you can't sell Dilithium for energy credits. It'll take me forever to get enough for one key.

?

You can sell Dilithium for energy credits.....just the ratio is so skewed (something like 218D for 1EC) is the average I've seen.

Are you talking about Energy Credits, the in-game currency, or C-Points, what you use to buy stuff on the C-Store like these keys? Since I'm guessing it's the latter: if you click on that little down arrow on the corner of your minimap, you can access the Dilithium Exchange where you can buy C-Points with dilithium and vice-versa. Of course, with these keys and such and the lockboxes, it wouldn't surprise me if there's a price spike for the duration.

Is the console bound to the Marauder or can you take it out and put it onto another ship?

You can also indirectly exchange dilithium for energy credits by e.g. buying crafting materials with dil and putting them on the exchange. I haven't checked if it's economically smarter to get keys this way or by just exchanging directly to c-points. (Smartest thing to do is to not play this lottery at all, of course :D Sit it out, wait for desired items to fall a bit in price on the exchange and get them for energy credits.)

Yeah. I've already got a number of boxes, so I'll just wait till the price comes down or I have the Dilithium.

As of this post it's holding steady at 276 D/Point, whereas yesterday it climbed as high as 289. In my case I've been EC-profiting off of the resale of any marked-down gold boxes, since for some reason they're not bound like the Cardassian Lock Box - Gold was.

It's exclusive to the Marauder, just like the Fed cloaking device is exclusive to the Tactical Escort Retrofit and the Dreadnought Cruiser.

... I made an alt, parked them in the Khitomer's warp core area behind one of the barricades, turned on autofire... went over 100 Ferengi Lock Boxes looted, none of them Gold.

I've seen one gold box so far, in a normal mode STF. Didn't win the need roll, though. And so far I've not succumbed and paid either EC or CP for master keys, I never liked the Ferengi ships (OP console or not) and the Cardi box showed me that random number generators never like me anyways ;)

I had to get around 50 normal boxes before i got a gold(which had the D'kora btw) and right after i got another gold box - it seems to be completely random.

Went almost 150 free boxes before finally earning a gold box -- they don't look different from regular Ferengi Lock Boxes in the game world it seems, only in the "take item" GUI and in the inventory. On the other hand, my next gold box was somewhere close to 180 boxes in so yeah, Random Number Generator at work here seemingly.

They sell for pretty insane prices... just sell it and you can afford a couple of keys for your next one ;)

I opened a gold box yesterday and got... 5 eng/aux batteries. Yay. Definitely I would have paid a buck for... not.

The Gold ones are bind on pickup with the upcoming patch, so buy/sell 'em now.

Also, I am excited. Why am I excited?

Team Shuttle Missions!

Maybe I'll put the full Borg set on my runabout for the lulz. Though I think I have the drops I need for a full Mark X MACO set. A runabout with a heavy graviton beam? Why not! :D

Oh my god, then put a tactical Boff in there with THY1. "Your Hvy Tricobalt device deals 60,000 damage to To'duj Fighter."

Actually, running a normal torpedo launcher with torpedo spread might be interesting, too. It'd be pretty funny to see a runabout spew 10-15 quantum torpedoes. :D
