We wish to know what it is you mean by open acess before we sign anything.
The UTO's open access trade policy provides a multi-tiered trade approach where businesses of respective nations have open access to each other's markets through the UTO market link while adhering to ethical business codes ensuring fair competition. Similar to free trade although there will be some regulation to ensure that business practises that could be harmful to a nation's populace in the long term do not manifest. The regulated access we proposes for Tortuga is similar but much more heavily regulated to protect foreign enterprise from damaging Tortuga's economy further.

Tortugan Space
New Tortuga

The negotiations between Tortuga and the Commonwealth had taken an interesting turn, and while the Master of Arms had not been expecting it he was more than aware of the opportunity for mutual gain. It was not an opportunity that he was prepared to let slip through his fingers, every credit that his nation could save was a credit that could be spent elsewhere at another time. The proposal was readily accepted, the Commonwealth request for escorts for their goods readily accepted. When Director Gahlray and Head Architect Taldracus left, The Master of Arms considered the negotiations for a moment. New Tortuga was a rising star in known space, and there were benefits and dangers that accompanied that fact.

As he considered the negotiations which had taken place, he gained a new perspective on the Baeloran Commonwealth. They were capable negotiators, far more so than he had expected. They had come utterly prepared and with an offer that he would have been foolish to refuse. The Ravenlock Consortium was an unknown quantity, but they possessed capabilities that could not be ignored. The Asgard would be granted basing rights in the system as soon as hostilities between the UPA and Unification conflict ceased. The Vampires would be granted the right to purchase their embassy upon Tortugan soil, with only a handful of limitations. Tortuga while proud had been wounded in the war against the Draconis, and she needed all the help she could gather, human or otherwise.

Ultimately, the Master of Arms could not say one way or another if he liked what he saw occurring within his nation. The Draconis were no longer a problem, but with the loss of their bumbling enemies he had to worry about other possibilities. Was Unity station an attempt by the Minmatar to subvert control of New Tortuga? Were the Asgard plans to base their ships a positive step in the long run? There was no doubt they were mighty, and the Unification seemed to be winning the war…The Master of Arms sighed softly. A Vampire embassy in Tortugan soil was going to cause a nightmare of problems, but if the Ravenlock decided to play along with his offer, it may be a bit more manageable. He missed the days where the only concern on his mind was the fear of an invasion by an irritated foreign power.

The orders arrived within an hour of the finalization of negotiations between the Commonwealth and the Master of Arms. The so called “Task Force C” a force composed of twin cruisers and twenty five escorts detached from the rest of the gathered Tortugan fleet and accelerated towards the outer system. Within ninety seconds, the twenty seven ships jumped into hyperspace.

Veithan Empire
Veitha System, Veitha III

Under normal circumstances all diplomatic activities were handled through Mulaya, Veitha by virtue of being the heart and soul of the Empire was an unusually difficult location to visit. The Empire was cautious by nature and Veitha was not a trade hub, under a heightened state of alert entering any core world but Mulaya III was usually denied. But these were not usual circumstances, and the Asgard were seen in a relatively positive light. They were after all one of the oldest nation in Known Space, furthermore, while other nations had stumbled, the Asgard had not. Of all the nations outside of the Accord, Monacora and the Asgard were very high on the Veithan list of nations which warranted attention and respect. Monacora had been consecrated by the blood of Magdalena Hyrt, and it had been Monacora that had made the Veithan acquisition of formerly Arcane territories a reality. The Asgard had not done nearly as much for the Empire directly, but they were a nation that no one could take for granted. And it had been due to this, as much as anything else that had allowed the Asgard Diplomatic Courier into the hallowed space of the Veitha system.

The Asgard sensors could immediately discern a multitude of signatures within the system. Veitha was heavily populated and exploited, especially her less habitable stellar bodies. In moons untold Veithan auto factories worked endlessly producing a wide array of military and civilian goods although these were buried beneath many meters beneath the surface and thus, almost impossible to detect. As the vessel contacted Veitha system control, they were informed of several no fly zones, these zones were surrounded by a significant level of electronic counter measures. The Empire was trying to hide what laid there, perhaps shipyards or other military facilities. As the Asgard vessel penetrated ever closer towards Veitha III, it gained an incomplete picture of the system. Civilian traffic was still present, although in a far more limited fashion than was to be expected.

Eventually, as the Asgard vessel settled in orbit of Veitha III it could clearly determine the one hundred and twenty signatures of the Veithan First Fleet. The first fleet hovered quietly in the void, a mere light minute away from the Veithan home world. The first fleet watched as the Swiftsure reached her orbiting point. Veitha III control opening a channel a millisecond after their arrival.

”Confirmed Swiftsure. This is Veitha III control, you have clearance to launch shuttles to the following coordinates. Please follow the assigned vector, an honor guard will meet you when you land and transport your Ambassador to an immediate meeting.”

At roughly the same time that the Asgard shuttle had exited hyperspace on the edge of the Veitha system, preparations were made for the highest level Ambassador in the world to meet with the Nashtar representatives. The room chosen was spacious, dominated by a large circular table of genuine Earth oak. The head Ambassador sat quietly on his chair, to his right his chief aide, and to his left a member of Veithan intelligence. The Nashtar representatives should be arriving at any minute…

"Thank you Veitha Control. Sir Winston will be landing shortly. In the mean time he wished me to pass on his thanks for arranging this meeting."

* * *

Sir Drake Winston was one of the highest ranking diplomats at the Foreign Office. By many he was regarded as having a direct line to the Imperial Family on any and all matters foreign. He hadn't left Asgard space in at least a decade, that he was here was a mark of their respect. And how important they considered matters.

The man, old even with prolong, none the less came down the shuttles ramp with a courtly grace. As he did he bowed respectfully to the honour guard.

"Thank you gentlemen for allowing me to visit your world. I understand it's a rare privilige for one to see your homeworld. I am honored." the man smiled genuinely. But he was too much a man of duty to let the fascinations of a new world keep him. "Alas, I'm afraid that duty requires that I meet with your representatives as soon as possible. The Asgard Empire, speaking for the Unification as whole, has an offer we wish to make you."

[Asgard Expeditionary Force, Mintar approach]

"Comms, give me the whole fleet. I wish to address our people."

"Yes, Admiral."

The young woman scurried to give the formidable Fleet Admiral Von Bek exactly what he wanted.

"Soldiers and spacers of the Asgard Empire, I address you now on the eve of battle. We got into battle now and who among us knows if we shall return. But I promise you right here, right now that whatever end may come we will be rememebered! WE SHALL BREAK OUR FOE AND CAST HIM DOWN. TODAY WE SHALL WRITE OUR NAMES IN BLOOD AND FIRE ACROSS THE FACE OF ETERNITY! THIS DAY WE SHOW THEM WHAT IT IS TO BE ASGARD! Death and destruction await, but hold to this; we shall emerge triumphant."

* * *

With those words ringing in their ears the men and women of the Asgard stood square with their Monacoran allies and prepared for the Battle of Mintar.

New Tortuga

"These are the plans for the construction of my lord's residence here," Peipus's majordomo explained, handing the blueprints over to the Tortugan contractor, "your construction efforts will be watched by our own professionals."

"That isn't necessary," the contractor replied, looking over the plans, "we're on the up and up here. What's this, a garage?"

He pointed at a large warehouse-like structure adjoining the manor proper.

The majordomo glanced down at the plans and answered, "Storage for livestock in stasis."

"Mmmhmm." The contractor didn't ask. The people of New Tortuga weren't in the habit of sticking their necks out; they had maintained a piratical regime for decades, after all.

To the Government of New Tortuga

In the interests of safeguarding the person of our ambassador we wish to expedite the development of planetary shields on New Tortuga. We would be willing to take up a reasonable portion of the costs incurred by your government in purchasing and installing these systems.

The head Ambassador sat quietly on his chair, to his right his chief aide, and to his left a member of Veithan intelligence. The Nashtar representatives should be arriving at any minute…
Ambassador Thompson walked in, flanked by two of his aides. "Ambassador, thank you for your time. As you know, the Unification savagely and unilaterally attacked the United Protectorates Alliance after our attempts to protect our ally, the White Suns Confederation, from the ravages of the Hajr of the Unbound. We believe, as you showed you do during your presentation of your analysis of the evidence surrounding the circumstances, that the Diaspora's claims against the Confederation have little real substance, thus our eagerness to defend our ally. What's more, we know that the Unification's claims of an Alliance fleet in Monacoran space at the time they specify are false, and are prepared to prove it with shipping records, sensor logs, and the timing of the Alliance force sent to the Elysium Sector. First, I ask merely to be allowed to present our case. Afterwards, of course, I am instructed to ask for aid, if not military then perhaps for the Accord to act as mediator."

Mintar, Nashtar Star Cluster

Alarm klaxons sounded on every warship in orbit and every military base planetside as the early warning sensors detected the incoming fleet. Fighters swarmed from the moon base and from the planet's surface as the Fourth Fleet warships surrounding the planet lumbered into higher orbits and launched their own fighters. The planet's battlestations spun up their gigantic mass drivers as the planetary shield sprang to life, flashing white before fading to transparency. Smaller versions of this event happened on the stations and warships.

Vice Admiral Davis stood up from his command chair on the Protector. "Comms, send for reinforcements, everything anyone can spare, now! Order the Arrestor and Refusor to power up their interdiction fields, wide net. They've been using Kincaid torpedoes, and we can't risk the fate of the Horizon."

"Aye, sir."

"The fleet's too large for our force to stop. We fight a mobile action until reinforcements arrive. We know the Asgard limitations. Get the Solar Flares out to their arrival threshold and lay a minefield. They can't come in any closer than here," he said, activating a control on the map projector, causing a transparent red sphere to form around the planet well out beyond his ships' orbits, "before the planet's gravitational fields destroy their ships in hyperspace. Sensors, any aspect change on the approach?"

"None, sir," replied the sensor chief.

"Place the mines here," continued Davis, pointing at the point on the sphere between the planet and the Asgard entry trajectory. "If they stay true to form, they'll want to emerge as close to this limit as possible. We'll make them pay for that limitation." He turned from the impromptu briefing. "Comms, contact all ships of the fleet. They are not to feel too pinned to the planet. Any and all maneuvers deemed necessary to a ship's survival are to be taken, and captains are free to withdraw from the combat area if they feel it necessary. These conditions change when we have enough of a force to combat the enemy, but until then, concentrate on staying alive."

"Aye, sir."

LOCATION: DEEP SPACE RENDEZVOUS POINT ALPHA

The First Contact Fleet appeared in space. When it appeared there were already 14 ships there. Four STACKERS glided next to a pair of HUNTER CRUISERS escorted by 3 COMMONWEALTH FRIGATES. There was also a pair of CARRACK CRUISERS near a WRAITH. As soon as the First Contact Fleet appeared a pair of LIBERTY Fleet Replenishment ships cruised over to them. As the FCF was being replenished, Captain Osbourne received a message from the other WRAITH.

“Jim, its good to see you,” Said Captain Mark Spain. “We have new orders. Your orders to head to the Nashtari capital have been changed. Data taken from the COMM network, indicate that the Nashtari are engaged in a heavy war. We believe it would be unwise to show up at their capitals with a fleet. It might cause some tension. Instead we are to head for the world of Mintar. Data shows that it isn’t as heavily defended. And since we don’t know if they are hostile or not they sent us as backup. And since it will take awhile to get there, as soon as you are replenished we move out.”

“Roger,” replied Captain Osbourne. “We’ll be ready to fly in 90 minutes.”

90 minutes later.

The two LIBERTY ships leapt into slipspace. The Fleet formed up and fired off a tight beam transmission to a repeater station to inform FLEETHQ of their progress. Thirty seconds later, the fleet was gone.

System PX-745-B3

The small fleet of destroyers and escorts swallowed out at the edge of the system (and across space the same happened with two other systems). Several science vessels reached out with their sensors and scanned. After a few minutes, half of them swallowed deeperinto the system, scanning every detail.
<<Well,>> Captain DeVillier said, <<it's not Gladsheim, but we can make do I guess...>>
<<Correct,>> the Fleet sub-consensus observed. <<This system, and the two other ones next to us, have been rated high for colonization by us.>>
<<Which we haven't done in the last centuries...>>
<<Yes, there was no pressure to do so. Our current home systems dwarf the industrial capacity of whole lesser nations. But it has been decided, that while we're not agressively invading someone now, it would be folly to sit back and watch others grab whole nations, while we don't. Luckily we still have prime real estate to settle in.>>
And this system was one of them. Boasting four super heavy gas giants with extensive lunar systems, a very thick asteroid belt, and a large number of "normal" planets made it a eldorado of resources. And it was also, like the other systems currently being settled, where on the far side of Gladsheim space, away from known space.
<<Scans point towards the systems first gas giant, nearly Gladsheim-class, rich atmosphere, acceptable paramaters.>>
The scan results were further processed and analysed, then Consensus gave its OK. The behemoths of construction ships began their work.
Several hours passed until a large ripple in space-time passed through the system. A smaller, relatively new floating city had been swallowed out in low orbit of the gas giant, brought here by several large tugs.
<<Relocation of 875 million physical body units complete. System upgrade in process. System now named Vanaheim.>>

Spacetime rippled as the Manticore 1st expeditionary battle squadron pushed out of hyperspace into the dead system agreed to as the staging area for Manticorse and Krytos forces. The system was a lonely one, devoid of life. Yet space was still filled with cosmic debris, asteroid belts and gas clouds along with dead moon-sized rocks floated through space. It wasn't so dense as to make navigation a problem, but comms and sensors were hell.

"Orient ourselves with the star and form up. The Krytos said they would meet us here. Any sign of them?"

"Yes, sir. Right off our port. Their hyperspace sigs are still fading, we can't be more than five minutes behind them."

"Excellent. Open a channel." A pause as the comm officer complied. "Hello there, KSE Command. Looks like you went and started that party without us. Well, what's the damage and what are we up against? After what those bastards did back home, my crews are itching for a fight. Let's make em feel the hurt."

LOCATION: FLEETHQ/R&D DIVISION/ NEW SPARTA

Dr. McQuiddy strode to the head of the conference room. Seated here were some of the brightest minds in the Confederation, along with top military brass.

“Good morning, I am Dr. Justin McQuiddy, I am in charge of the SPARTAN ELITE project. Started three years ago the SPARTAN ELITE project was intended to research and apply techniques to create a super soldier. Our early attempts were met with failure. About half a year into the program, we thought we had the techniques and technology to create the ELITEs. We took 30 volunteers and conducted procedures to increase reaction time, strength, eyesight, speed, and give them unbreakable bones. However, we lost all but four of the volunteers. The four that survived exceeded all expectations. They were incredible. However with a eighty six percent loss rate we decided to research ways to reduce that rate to at least twenty five percent. In the meantime we went to work on the training aspects and powered armor suit development. We have finished creating the armor. It triples the wearers strength, reaction time. It can operate in a hard vacuum and carries a shield system. Before you ask, no we can not currently incorporate the shields into our standard infantry armor. We currently have six hundred troops drawn from the SPARTAN and IMMORTAL divisions. However we only have resources at this time to modify half that number. However, even without the modifications the men and women of the ELITE program are the BEST trained troops we have. Now back to the modifications. We recently have made breakthroughs in reducing the loss rate. We believe that if we get lucky we can produce three hundred ELITEs at once. Worst case is we lose half and are left with hundred fifty. However, we need a final bit of funding to complete the operations.”

“Doctor, your project has taken up massive amounts of you divisions resources.” Came the voice of General McKnight, Chairman of the Marine Corps. “With the amount of funds you have received we could have paid for three battalions of regular troops. Why should we, when just the training aspect of your program, which can be implemented with all ground forces, spend more on a project that may or may not prove useful in the long run. How big of a difference could three hundred troopers make?”

“Well, there was the Battle of Thermoplyae, were three hundred Spartans held off the ten thousand Immortals. And these troops could be used as a counter-insurgency, boarding actions, covert operations, raiding, and even frontline combat. And with the new knowledge that the galaxy is engaged in a heavy war, they are needed now more than ever.”

“True. Alright, I will approve the funds. How soon can we expect to see results?”

“It will take about a week to complete the modifications, another two for the men to recover. And a week to get them used to the armor. In a month we will hopefully have three hundred ELITEs.”

The shuttle made its quick transit between the Manticore flagship and the KSE flagship. Commanding Admiral PLACEHOLDER and his staff quickly disembarked and met with the Krytos commanders.

"So, what plans do you have laid? And, most importantly, what kind of opposition can we expect out of the UP around their worlds? Our intel is a bit sketchy."

FROM: Bondman President Johan Sung of the Free Floater Republic of Inisha
TO: Chancellor Spyder of the Minmatar Freehold
SUBJ: Unity Trade Organization

The Free Floater Republic of Inisha has examined the initial Minmatar proposal, and found it somewhat lacking. Some major issues are left untouched. For instance, one of the largest threats to modern-day trade is directly related to the post-Genocide chaos. As we have been so poignantly reminded by the recent Tortugan affair, piracy is alive and well. This threat makes true free trade a near impossibility. It is only through tightly defended trade lanes that any meeasure of economic flow has been established, and even then, international trade is a fraction of what it could be, what it has been, in more orderly times.

Before the people of Inisha and our allied Clusters are willing to commit to any such organization, we want assurance that trade lanes will be kept open , defended, and well-maintained. We ask what ideas the Minmatar have to ensure this.

Australis, Pervatia system.

"They are in the edge of the system now, Subadmiral. Their more heavily damaged vessels have left the system and their reinforcements will arrive in roughly ten minutes. Orders, sir?"

"Open a channel with the 4th fleet. We are in a hurry now that we have orders to leave" replied the Subadmiral looking with anger to the Ethereal MindWalker that had just informed him of the new orders sent by the Overadmiral.

Some of the Sixtra officers still refused to believe that they had been ordered to leave their home system by one of their own. But even if the White Sun navy lacked combat experience, the discipline of its crews was high and all their vessels were already preparing to leave. When the face of Fleet Admiral Treselax of the 4th appeared in the main screen, the higher ranking officer started to give orders.

"I have been given the same orders and I intend to fulfil them. I have a plan that might allow us to minimize our losses" said before putting it forward.

"It is a very risky maneuver, sir. We risk losing everything if the Ousters try to stop us."

"We are in war against an stronger enemy and we might lose far more than some warships before the end of this. Give your orders, I have already given mine" replied Treselax with an edge in his voice that ended the discussion. "We are working in a very, very tight schedule. Remember. Two minutes before the arrival of their reinforcements, we leave the system. No delays there. Any ship not ready at that point will be left behind."

During this conversation the motherships of both fleets had maneuvered into a position that would allow them to couple with the orbital shipyards of Australis. It wasn't unusual for the motherships to couple with Sixtra space habitats and although the shipyards were bigger, the powerful magnets that made the coupling possible would also allow this variation of the same concept. The link would be slightly weaker than usual, but in a few minutes, both shipyards would be attached to the motherships and ready to travel away from the system. The White Sun fleets sorrounded the area where the delicate operation was taking place, weapons ready to fire on incoming Ouster vessels and fresh interdictors that had arrived with the 4th fleet insome in widenet and others in compactnet modes preventing the Ousters from using tacjumps of their kinkaid torpedoes against the motherships.

Australis, Pervatia System

Physics were solid rules, iron-clad and unbreakable. The modern era of spaceflight, energy shields, and hyperadvanced power generation was due not to the ability to break these rules, but rather, to circumvent them. That was what the Kincaid drive did- thumbing it's nose at Newton's Third Law, it dumped the equal and opposite reaction of a ship's engines into Hyperspace, projecting a lance of sourceless kinetic force into the aether, allowing incredible acceleration and maneuverability.

Hyperspace outside the Australis System was a rippling maelstrom of kinetic disruption. The Black Ships of the 2cnd had arrived. As their unmistakeable signature swept past the 4th's position, Miyako's vessels lept effortlessly after them, leaving a storm of disappating gridfire as they lept to Kincaid to follow the rest of the combined fleet lancing towards Australis, where the cumbersome process of evacuation continues. In only ten minutes, the defenders had not had time to complete an act as complex as the removal of a third of their entire shipbuilding capacity.

In seconds the Ouster vessels would be dropping out of Kincaid at long missile range of the enemy fleet, and would begin another assault. The enemy commander would have to think fast.

WSN scout frigate Torvaxia
Deep Space. Jormungandr March.

Nine days! Seven days to cross the void between the borders of the Confederation and two additional days to cross the enemy territory of the Jormungandr march avoiding the early sensor networks of the Ouster systems.

They had sent FTL capable probes to all the systems in the area and the results of the scanning were starting to arrive now. The information would be sent back home and there the High Command would decide what to do with it. Intelligence was something very valuable in a war and the Torvaxia might find something important enough to change the tide of the war.

Posting for Tycho, seeing as how he gave over control
The shuttle made its quick transit between the Manticore flagship and the KSE flagship. Commanding Admiral PLACEHOLDER and his staff quickly disembarked and met with the Krytos commanders.

"So, what plans do you have laid? And, most importantly, what kind of opposition can we expect out of the UP around their worlds? Our intel is a bit sketchy."
"We'll face too much opposition to handle alone. Estimates put the enemy's strengh at roughly eighteen to twenty capital vessels."

"Our plan at this point, is to draw them off, and pick them apart. To this end, we have picked the perfect target."

Admiral Conner pressed a button, and a holomap appeared.

"This is one of their trade convoys headed to the Psilons. We just got it's travel route and time from high command. Apparently they have spies looking up convoy routes and trade lanes. We were unable to asertain it's exact escort strengh though, so we're not taking any chances. We will deploy twelve cruisers to hit the convoy, as well as any ships you wish to send. They will hit the convoy, then plot a jump point back to this system"

The admiral pressed another button, bringing up a view of another uninhabited system, roughly one hour from their present position.

"The cruisers will then wait for the enemy to send ships to assist the convoy, and jump when they arrive, leading them to the system."

"We have a couple of ships there already deploying decoys. It'll look like we've got hundreds of capships in the system, giving them multipule targets, and when they go after the wrong one, we'll jump in and ambush them."

Your concerns are understandable. Given these turbulant times security at present is paramount. This is why the Minmatar plans to expand our UTO security program meet the growing requirements that galactic trade will bring. After the Monacoran arrangement it has become clear that security will be one of the primary role of the Minmatar Navy. Funding received from UTO corporate fees will go towards paying for protection that will be provided by Minmatar ships. The neutrality of each convoy will be protected under the UTO charter, and the convoys will be protected from any attack ranging from pirates to rogue nations should the situation arrise, although that is something we would wish to avoid given that the UTO was founded for the benefit of all.

As for maintaining the trade routes, we're also proposing the construction of a series pf deep space depots to provide a means for trade goods and supplies to be transfered and stored. We are currently looking for third parties to assist with the construction of these.

Long ago, the Peace of the Void extended to cover all trade routes. The Free Floater Republics are almost inarguably the finest builders of deep-space facilities, with the possible exception of the Elysians, who I doubt will be placing any bids.

On that thought, the Free Floater Republics offers to build and maintain trade centers for the UTO and basing and resupply depots for UTO spacelane patrol fleets. We feel a need to provide as much as possible to this endeavour.

That is most generous. Very well, I'll ensure that the UTO allows you to construct the depots but there will be certain guidlines that must be met. Namely that all trade craft are able to pass through without molestation and that the neutrality of the convoys are observed and respected regardless of nation of origin. As long as those guidelines can be met, welcome to the UTO.

[Combined Fleet, Mintar System]

The mighty taskforce dropped into the system. As a matter of necessity the Asgard and Monacorans dropped into the system further out than would normally be desired. It was necessary in order to keep the Monacoran's Jardian built ship in formation with the Asgard wall. The energy heavy Jardian dreanaughts being flanked by Asgard Wulfen to sheild them.

Together the massive fleet advanced in system.

* * *

"Damn it, the bastards are running!" Von Bek swore viciously. He wanted a battle and it seems the Nashtar were too cowardly to offer it directly. "So much for their bluster."

After a breif burst of temper at being denied he was once more calm and detached; ready for battle.

"Ignore the Nashtar till they stand and fight. Put a salvo on the nearer defense platform as soon as we range. But be careful to stay out of the range of return fire."

* * *

The Combined Fleet moved forward, they were ready to exploit the superior range of their Ghost Rider missles to pummel the enemy fortresses before they could return fire. As the range ticked down the pods were rolled. At the designated point the massive salvo was fired, every ship in the fleet launching it's pods. The whole load concentrated on the target named Pigeon-1.

Mintar, Nashtar Star Cluster

"Retreat to the edge of the system. Fire missiles as we withdraw."

All missile-bearing ships in the battle group fired. 1,050 missiles streaked across the void towards the approaching fleet, then the destroyers, cruisers, single battleship, and lone carrier streaked forward into hyperspace.

As for out of range of the platforms, that was a difficult thing to accomplish, certainly not if you wanted to actually attack them. The gigantic mass drivers on the stations began to fire, sending fifteen ton shells soaring at the enemy fleet at .2c. Point defense systems began to fire, but it wasn't long before Torrent 2's reinforced shields were down, it's massive hull pierced, and its weapons nonfunctional as it spewed escape pods.

Maeglos, Nashtar Star Cluster

"Form up the fleet, set course for rendezvous point Epsilon," ordered Admiral Kimmel as he stormed onto the bridge of the Unity.

"Aye, Admiral."

Marince, Nashtar Star Cluster

Rear Admiral Zzarinar rumbled out a deep growl upon hearing the news and orders. "Form up the battle group on us," the Zambaran rumbled in his deep voice. "Rendezvous point Epsilon."

"Aye, sir."

Nashtar, Nashtar Star Cluster

"Set course for Epsilon, maximum speed. Mintar has fallen under attack by massive forces; they seem set on taking the planet."

Captain Tomaas looked over at Admiral Pierce. "Mintar, sir? You know what the defense plan calls for in this case?"

"Yes I do, Captain. There isn't much else this could mean, but we'll worry about that when the time comes."

"Aye, sir."

Ronogho, Nashtar Star Cluster

Admiral Hrothnar stood up in his command chair on the Liberty, his outsized red arms dropping to his sides, and his ears back. "Helm, set course for rendezvous point Epsilon. Time to pay back our debt."

"Aye, Admiral."

Praetor, Nashtar Star Cluster

On board the NRS Defiance, Rear Admiral Magellan barked orders concerning preparations for battle, his battle group already moving for the rendezvous.

Oromos, Nashtar Star Cluster

"Third battle group goes, First stays here," Barclay's orders came through. "We can't leave the shipyards unguarded. Go!"

"Aye, sir," acknowledged Rear Admiral Haig, his flag now on the Scimitar since the destruction of the Horizon.

"Gladius will go with you. She's on her way to your position now. Get moving."
