comment on protests

Post by Enforcer Talen »

My Name is Juanita
You may or may not
remember me ...during the last election I did a
radio spoof for WRKO in Boston I played "The Fat
Lady" to encorage our presidential hopefuls to "get
on with it. I did folks, I really sang on Al Gore's
lawn. So I believe in freedom of Speech... I am a
military wife and was raised a military brat. So I
know well the life I've chosen to lead. I know how
to count the coost of freedom of speech.
First let me say that I am absolutely
flabberghasted. My husband came home and said a co-
worker was driving to work yesterday and a "Circle
K" cashier refused to wait on him because he was in
uniform., He said it was his form of protest... I
cannot believe it! Why is this person still working?
Framingham, Circle K or Mass Pike authority need to
remove this person from thier job. If he or she did
this based on race the NAACP would picket the store
to the ground. I watched all of the protests with
mixed emotions. You see while I grew up in a very
liberal community in Hingham Mass. I myself am not
at all Liberal but I fear this fiasco we are calling
War on terrorism may turn into another Vietnam.
Please folks, it is our right to protest, we have
freedom of speech in our country. thank God. To the
teen girl who turned her back on the American flag
in a sporting event you are free to do so it is
freedom of expression you excersized. I am glad for
the right to express myself , butI have lived on
Hanscom AFB for the past 15 yrs.and I must tell you
how weird life is from my perspective. Never have
we known a climate like this one as children and
wives of military members. On 9-11 an evil greater
than we have ever known gripped our communities and
while you were free to walk around grieving we were
not even allowed to leave our houses our kids could
not go outside or attend thier schools. We were
officially under attack in America. My little high
School proteter welcome to life in Israel or
Palestine your borders will never be safe again. Not
really oh they can be guarded or under careful watch
but your innocent heart will never cease looking
over it's shoulder
> You people clearly don't realize as members of the
military , we are just the messengers of the
President and Amerocan Congress to Saddam Hussein or
"So-damn-Insane" as we affectionately refer to him.
I wonder as that teen bowed her head and turned
away from my beloved flag; did she see the pain in
the eyes of the older peoplearound her? The very one
who served beside the man who died in Vietnam for
her right to protest and be free. Some mother lost
her son or daughter permanently. She will never kiss
him goodnight again...never. This is at a great
price.... a horrible horrible cost; We hammer the
desert with our strongest and brightest men and
women. The best that we have is on the front line.
and some snooty little girl who isn't really old
enough to debate these issues is allowed to "Diss"
> the flag my family has died for for centuries? I
wonder do all of these protesters own Gas masks?
No?....really? and you want who to defend your
borders Mr Circle K ? Oh yeah that Airman you chose
not to serve you know the one who makes poverty
wages and cannot even afford to live off base in our
overpriced state ( and oh yeah I am MASS born and
bread and so is My Husband). I must say I take your
dis-respect personally young lady feel free at
anytime to leave our blessed country. Oh and
Mister Circle K, I will not be shopping there until
Your Bosses publically do something to rectify this
attitude of yours. I am saddened but strengthened by
your ignorance. remember 2 things these are the
best folks ever and they are trained on weaponry.
Keep it clean and please donate to the airforce aid
society for penitence

Great article. I was thinking about something like that earlier today. It might be in part that Redstone Arsenal, Marshal Space Flight Center, and numerous other engineering buisnesses directly allow this city to thrive like it does. However, even in the other cities around the area, you will not find such protests. You people should come down and hang out. There are a some who aren't for it whole heartedly, but the majority supports the troops.

Reminds me of the stories of public school teachers, telling elementary school children that the war is bad, and their parents are bad people for going to fight in an unjust war. (Maine, or Mass.)

Smug smarmy cruel shitheads.
So sure of the moral high ground that they might hurt small children with their cruel words.
Like a child at that age needs to hear THAT, on top of being worried if mommy or daddy is going to come home, ever.

It was in Maine.. They were the children of national guard parents..

They should be fired. No matter how you feel about the war, you shouldn't take it out on the people fighting it, let alone their children...

It's like those Vietnam protesters who had all the "Bring our GIs Home" marches, yet spit on them when they came in at the airports, and some incidents of someone saying "YOu deserved it." upon passing a vet who lost his limb over there...
