And so does Blair, according to BBC World.

We've captured Saddam, Blair confirms

Saddam Hussein has been captured in his hometown of Tikrit in northern Iraq, Tony Blair has confirmed.

The Prime Minister said that the arrest "removes the shadow" of his return from Iraq, and "gives an opportunity for Saddam to be tried in Iraqi courts".

Earlier Paul Bremer, US administrator for Iraq, telephoned the US-appointed Iraq governing council with the news.

Mr Bremer is holding a news conference in Baghdad at noon, where more details of Saddam's capture will be revealed.

I said that just going on what I'd seen in the CNN article.

Though what will happen to him now?

They will eventually take him to court, no doubt.

They're planning "extensive" DNA testing according to Sky News UK.

Good. If they haul his ass in front of a court, then maybe the US will come out of this mess looking a little better. But where's bin Laden?

Economic growth + Saddam captured = Bush re-elected
If Religion and Politics were characters on a soap opera, Religion would be the one that goes insane with jealousy over Politics' intimate relationship with Reality, and secretly murder Politics in the night, skin the corpse, and run around its apartment wearing the skin like a cape shouting "My votes now! All votes for me! Wheeee!" -- Lagmonster

It'd be funny if that would come true.

I woke up everyone else in my house when I switched on the TV this morning. The cheers in the press room when they showed his pictures were electrifing. Nearly everyone in the room shouted in their native languages.

Excellent news. I'd been worried that Saddam had escaped after the other false reports of his death.

It's still being shown on Fox at this moment, probably on other stations as well.

If it is him, a job well done to the US ... finally you guys are showing credible gains in the 'intelligence war' in Iraq.

I think, that this won't change anything in Iraq.

I mean, what do they want do do with him now?
Simply kill him?
That would be murder.
Trial in the US?
That would be even worse, and called self-righteous justice by the US, with devastating effects.
Trial in Iraq?
That would be a farce, that would be as worse as a trial in the US.

Conclusion:
To have him captured is worse than having him in freedom.

Will he face an allied court?

And if(when) charged, where might he stay?

So your saying having a mass murder on the loose is better for Iraq than having him locked up somewhere?

Please inform me of your reasoning because I honsetly fail to follow it
