NH Primary Results

Post by phongn »

MSNBC is now calling McCain for the GOP with 12% of precincts reporting.

EDIT: Too close to call between Clinton and Obama for the DNC.

I think McCain was consistently polling ahead in NH for some time now so this is not a surprise. I am now officially rooting for Obama so I can hope to cue up the music "Ding Dong the Witch is dead." in the hopes that it is the near final nail in the coffin of the bitch's presidential aspirations.

After Iowa, everyone is expecting Obama to beat Hillary yet again.. if he DOESN"T get NH, it could screw him iover perminantly in the eyes of the media as well as sour every other race..

I hold my breath to see if he pulls ahead.

Ah, well, if he loses, then at least I'll (hopefully)have the satisfaction of seeing the GOP divide itself primary by primary. I'd love nothing more than to see the GOP candidates forced into a brokered convention.

Eh? I thought NH was a Clinton shoe-in and thus it would be very surprising indeed if he won?

It amuses me more that Huckabee isn't doing so well in NH. What happened to the dream of president Huckabee?!

McVain won NH back in 2000, and yet went on to lose to GWB.
Apparently the voters there again swallowed his 'Straight Talk Express' bullshit.
His candidacy will have its 'bug vs. windshield' moment in South Carolina this year, just like it did in 2000.
Only this time it won't be phony rumors doing him in, but his advocacy for the 'Shamnesty' that was rejected last June.

It actually swung the other way in the prior two days to today, and showed Obama leading in the polls.

Huckabee was pretty much dead on arrival in New Hampshire - nobody was expecting him to get first, or even second. He'll probably go on to South Carolina and hope that he can use a prospective victory there to raise enough money to fight in the Super Tuesday states.

The GOP primary voters in NH by and large aren't fundamentalist whackjobs.
I've seen polls that indicate anywhere from 45% to 60% of the GOP Iowa caucus voters are fundies.
Naturally, they'd tend to support one of their own.

Yeah, NH Republicans look like our Democrats. Er, on social issues, anyway. Everyone expected Huckabee to tank in NH. I hear even Jesus couldn't promise him anything.

They're rather unusually libertarian - they don't have a state sales tax or income tax.

With only 2X% of the precincts reporting in, it's still too early to call. Right now, Obama's trailing by 4% via MSNBC.
I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who constantly says: "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action"; who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a "more convenient season."

The democratic race is too close to call, to be sure. Hillary has some very strong centers of support in certain voting districts; its possible that a disproportionate number of them have reported early. Even so, it is surprising that its this close. I wonder what was up with the polling results. :?

Still, even if Obama only takes a close second, it'll still be a victory. After all, up until a few days ago, even right after Iowa, no one thought he had much of a chance at all in NH.

What are the major college towns/young adult pop. concentrations in NH? I'd expect to see a large bump to Obama's numbers when they report in.

There are three I can think of (Nashua, Keene, and Durham); I've been trying to find a map of reporting districts online, but I haven't been successful so far.

If that's so, Obama's not doing well in Nashua. MSNBC: County Results

MSNBC just called New Hampshire for Hillary Clinton. Mind you, it's only a 3% difference; but she is about 5,000 votes up. Prepare for Comeback Kid Mark II.
