Hoenstly its basically a play straight out of "Team of Rivals," that is you go and get the person who is singularly most qualified to hold a post regardless of what their politics look like. If you get a whole bunch of truly smart people runnign their agencies and a President they all respect and who can get consensus or impose consensus as case may be then you get action.

The final tally (apologies to Wiki haters):

Secretary of Defense - Bob Gates
Attorney General - Eric Holder
Secretary of the Interior - Ken Salazar
Secretary of Agriculture - Tom Vilsack
Secretary of Commerce - Bill Richardson
Secretary of Labor - Hilda Solis
Secretary of Health and Human Services - Tom Daschle
Secretary of Housing and Urban Development - Shaun Donovan
Secretary of Transportation - Ray LaHood
Secretary of Energy - Steve Chu

I was just reading about how Bush made the alteration to the Sec State's salary so Hillary could fill the post, and the comments by the retards on CNN's website are mind boggling. So many of them think that Dubya was altering the constitution simply because they mentioned the constitutional law that prevents a senator from taking a higher paying position whose salary increase they approved, when he didn't actually change anything in the constitution at all, just the salary itself. Christ on a stick I hate stupid people.
