I have to admit that I got a bit of a giggle at the 'and this is the column for supercarriers...' element there.

Well, it's a stupid issue to quibble over Obama's bayonet analogy.

What's not stupid is to point out the sheer retardedness of Romney's statements about the navy being weaker than it was in 1917. It should seriously raise questions about his ability to conduct foreign or military policy properly.

Seriously, how the hell can Romney think the USN is at its weakest since 1917 when it was only the third most powerful navy back in 1917 (behind the British and the Germans), and it's currently the most powerful in the world?! The USN is more powerful than everyone else combined today. Hell, more powerful than everyone else combined if you only count the US Navy submarines!

That misses the real problem.

The real problem isn't "Romney thinks something stupid."

It's "the words coming out of Romney's mouth don't tell you anything about what he really thinks." They only tell you what he thinks you want to hear, and he thinks you want to hear that our military is weak and needs to be stronger. He might run the military well when he's in office... but he's still a snake in that case, just a smart snake.
