Mr. Smith couldn't be even bothered to put a bit of detail into the eyes. Boilerplate propaganda at least should reflect some minuscule level of effort.
Turns out that a five way cross over between It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, the Ali G Show, Fargo, Idiocracy and Veep is a lot less funny when you're actually living in it.

So this made me go look up just who "Saul Alinsky" was and, surprise surprise, he turns out to be someone I can not find a single reprehensible thing for. He is <GASP> a community organizer.

But more to the point, it is another example of a right wing "cartoon" that is not actually making a point other then a "Hur Hur Liberals are commies" soap box.

Voting for Obama = Going to Hell
Amazing.

The last one gets to me because largely Chuck does nothing at ALL to refute what are his own allegations.
He has a democrat assert a great many things which are largely true, and does not even bother to refute them in his OWN comic.

Actually, I'm not sure that the first one is that terrible, anyway. The way I read it, it's saying that Catholic priests are crazy for saying that a person goes to hell for voting for Obama.

Also, the last one would be a pretty good descriptor of a common way US elections go. The dems point out all the myriad ways that they're better for the nation than the Republicans for the common folk, the Republicans go 'Hur hur, they're not patriotic enough' or some similar nonsense, and the people vote for them. Then, the Democrats (and everyone else with half a brain) just stares in stunned silence, too shocked by the raw stupidity of the masses to even speak.

It also has blatantly racist implications - the Cabbage Patch dolls going to the Restoring Honor rally are fair haired and blue eyed, while the damn dirty Marxist activists is dark haired and got a large nose (with his idol being a Jewish man).

Which is why it is so baffeling.

If it was penned by anyone else, I would have laughed, but knowing ti was made by Chuck Asay, someone one step away from being the "Jack Chick" of conservative cartoonists, you are left to ask WHY he would write such a thing with NO deffense of his own people other then "We arn't Liberals" One is left to wonder if he is not in fact boldly admiting such things ARE true, but that liberals are SO bad, that even if conservatives DO all those things they are still somehow better then Liberals???

While I am not that familiar with Asay, I do have a possible interpretation. It could be that the things that the democrat says are meant to be seen by the reader as crazy. Then the cartoon can be interpreted as the democrat crazily ranting lies and trying to make the republican look bad, with the republican reply then interpretable as "Well, at least I'm not a crazy nut like that guy".

It's awesome how Asay constantly defends blatantly illegal shit big business does.

"Punish BP for safety violations? Ha ha, stupid liberals, the price of gas will go up if you do!"

"Have the courts check foreclosure notices after a scandal? Stupid liberals, you are stifling property investment!"

etc.

Looking at the last Asay one, it strikes me as more tongue and cheek really. How many of the Dems that at looking at loosing their position got into office during the 06 election on the position that they were not Bush?

Which is another thing that often infurates me about right wing cartoons, is they often state EXACTLY what is wrong with the right wing as if it were a big joke. You will see cartoons with someone, usually a democrat, saying "the right rings is full of rich people, racists, religious nut jobs and uneducated people!" and often followed up with "Why are they so popular?" Foden has a history of these.

Image

The right is simply immune to the idea that ANYthing could be wrong with themselves, aside from "not being conservative enough"

On the flip side of things, they make arguments against democrats that they consider to be scathing attacks, that are often things we are proud of, such as Cap and Trade, or funding Medicare. Shoot just look at chucks most recent work:

EDIT:
speaking of Foden, I foudn this rather tastless pic recently:

So,

I'm racist because I opposed the President on many issues (even after I supported the Draft-Rice movement in 2008)?

I'm uneducated because I didn't like the way the stimulus bill was written?

I'm greedy because I don't like socialism (I haven't called the current batch of democrats socialist)?

I'm stupid because I don't like 'Obamacare' (for a variety of reasons including Speaker Pelosi's statement "But we have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it")?

I'm a bigot because I think that the "Ground Zero Mosque" was a bad idea from the word go?

Or maybe you need to get out of your echo chamber a bit more often Crossroads.

Chuck: Perhaps you haven't noticed that the California governor's race is swinging Democratic, and Carly Fiorina isn't really electable to the US Senate in this climate?

Not racist, but dumb for supporting a war criminal.
TimothyC wrote: I'm uneducated because I didn't like the way the stimulus bill was written?
It was dumb, but it was better than anything the republicans were going to do.
TimothyC wrote: I'm greedy because I don't like socialism (I haven't called the current batch of democrats socialist)?
Not so much greedy as retarded I'd say. Unless you're already rich or have a damn good chance of being so in the near future opposing the sort of legislation that gets attacked as 'socialism' in this country is only going against your own interests.
TimothyC wrote: I'm stupid because I don't like 'Obamacare' (for a variety of reasons including Speaker Pelosi's statement "But we have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it")?
No one really liked it. In an ideal world it would've been voted down and something much better would have been written up. Sadly with the current batch of congresscritters and Obama asleep at the wheel it was the best we were going to get.
TimothyC wrote: I'm a bigot because I think that the "Ground Zero Mosque" was a bad idea from the word go?
Either a bigot or entirely too credulous. Judging by your stated views I wouldn't be at all surprised to find that you have a hardon for the constitution/the founding fathers. So, why no love for the first amendment? Or do you not think it applies to brown people?

The thing is that I usually get Chuck's comics, even if I vehemently disagree with their message and underlying logic, but this... nfi.

I like to read it as an implicit admission that health insurance companies in the US do nothing - thus paving the way for the government to regulate other kinds of "inactivity".
