RIP Kirby Puckett

Post by NeoGoomba »

Even as a Mets fan, I always loved Puckett. I saw out of the corner of my eye at the gym earlier that he had a stroke or heart attack or something major and he was in critical condition.

Not too many likeable people left in the world of baseball
"A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky, dangerous animals and you know it. Fifteen hundred years ago everybody knew the Earth was the center of the universe. Five hundred years ago, everybody knew the Earth was flat, and fifteen minutes ago, you knew that humans were alone on this planet. Imagine what you'll know...tomorrow."

What a tragedy. I remember Puckett playing with the championship Twins team in that very hard-fought 1991 World Series which went all seven games. Simply spectacular. He had to leave the game a few years later when he developed cataracts in his eyes.

I knew he had the stroke but I didn't know he was in such serious condition. A loss.
