The omnipotent Borg - revised

Post by Jalinth »

Excerpt from the baen board about how the Borg could take over the Death Star with one drone. Any comments :D Or should I just include the entire SD net as a cite

Just bog standard style over substance and proclaiming one's opinion as fact.

It's funny to read them I'll admit....to a point.

The first quote at the end made it funny for me.
"Man's unfailing capacity to believe what he prefers to be true rather than what the evidence shows to be likely and possible has always astounded me...God has not been proven not to exist, therefore he must exist." -- Academician Prokhor Zakharov

"Hal grabs life by the balls and doesn't let you do that [to] hal."

Okay, so most of this is the usual uber-Trek wanker yawn-fest bullshit that's been refuted a million times. One piece of idiocy in particular is giving me a fucking headache, though (emphasis is mine):
Meanwhile
>the drone is raising hell,
>slaughtering the DS's crew and
>dodging the Destroyer's fire.
What. The. Fuck. :wtf:

The same clownshoe cyborgs who walk slower than my 7-month-old niece crawls are now dodging large-scale artillery bombardments like Indiana Jones outrunning temple traps?!

I can understand how they arrived at most of the crap spewed in that quote simply by virtue of poor critical thinking (most notably the No Limits and Style Over Substance fallacies), but how the fucking fuck do they "dodging the Destroyer's fire"?

Did they see the slow-ass Predator outrunning an explosion for the last ten minutes of the abysmal Aliens vs. Predator movie and figure a powerwalking Borg drone could escape a large bombardment the same way?

Those cocksuckers. Those goddamned smooth-brained illiterate monkey-fucking pricks. Their stupidity has cursed me. I know that for the next fucking week the thought of this will rise up at random intervals as my brain tries to calculate how the hell anyone could come to a conclusion so grotesquely at odds with all available evidence.

When I read this kind of stuff, the only thing it comes in my mind is a line from a commercial for Milka chocolate:

"And the marmot was wrapping the chocolate in tinfoil"

PS: I must admit this quote has become in Romania something like "wussup" was for US.

On the contrary, my rage is merely tempered, ready to be blown out into full power at a moment's notice. Will be most useful at any future point where I feel tempted to be a "nice guy".

Yes, but that's just because you maturbate to pictures of Borg drones. Everyone without this little ... problem ... can see that it's a cakewalk for the Empire.

Seven of Nine...maybe. The others...um...no.

Ah...but you fail to consider the power of Trek. Continuity is optional, as is predefined weaknesses, strengths and abilities. :P

What exactly is the baen board? They don't appear to have ever heard of SDNet.

Erm-as Baen is a publishing company and their board is consequently intended mainly for discussing their books, why in Valen's name should they?

How do you people find these singular posts on obscure boards halfway across the internet? If only you used your investigative skills for good!

Halfway across the internet? That's... like doing the Kessel run in under 12 parsecs.
