With the Empire running the Milky Way for a few decades I can imagine a situation similar to East India Company in Britain before the 18th Century ended. The local governments are allowed to continue running but slowly become client states of the Empire as their economic structure adapts to the GFFA's either naturally or forcefully.

Eventually the clients more or less become protectorate states and the differences between living in the Milky Way or GFFA disappear with the exception of cultural and religious stuff. Basically becoming the "Empire's Raj".
Best care anywhere.

I really want to see the "Maybe the Star Wars galaxy is really really small and everyone is like a thousandth of an inch tall and Star Destroyers are a foot long!" thing make a comeback as a Trekkie means of disputing the SW speed advantage. It was such an insane argument, it was fun to have around.

(I know it's an old thread, but this forum is so slow that it's not very far down the page.)
