Star wars equivalent to replicator

Post by wookieeloaf »

I've been browsing wookieepedia lately and I came across http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Food%20synthesizer]this.My question is how much faster could the empire take over the milky way with this advantage and how would the feds respond to this?

There's no evidence that it's suitable for any sort of industrial purpose.

I fail to see why it would make any difference if it WERE. The Empire has all the technological, numerical and industrial advantages it's ever going to need as it is. We're talking a single ISD outgunning the entire Alpha Quadrant disparity here. Barring the intervention of quasiomnipotents like the Q or Organians the Trek side's best efforts won't amount to a speed bump for the invasion, should the imperials for whatever reason chose to invade.
'Next time I let Superman take charge, just hit me. Real hard.'
'You're a princess from a society of immortal warriors. I'm a rich kid with issues. Lots of issues.'
'No. No dating for the Batman. It might cut into your brooding time.'
'Tactically we have multiple objectives. So we need to split into teams.'-'Dibs on the Amazon!'
'Hey, we both have a Martian's phone number on our speed dial. I think I deserve the benefit of the doubt.'
'You know, for a guy with like 50 different kinds of vision, you sure are blind.'

Did you seriously open this thread just to ask how the Federation will react to a foodsynthesizer?

Frankly the duplicator has always seemed more applicable to me. IIRC there's even a novel that has industrial scale versions as well.

The Empire, and the Republic before them, already has molecular construction on a much larger scale. So... no difference whatsoever.
Star Trek vs. Star Wars, Extralife style.
