[TACTICS] Eclipse V. Federation Fleet

Post by Crayz9000 »

Well, I felt it appropriate in this case.. To begin my stay here with something of interest. It's a space combat scenario, to be precise. The Eclipse class Command Ship Indefetigable, under the command of a clone of Grand Admiral Thrawn, with full flash-printing of his memories, of course, has had it's primary and backup hyperdrives disabled by a Federation saboteur, though otherwise it's fully operational. A replacement Hyperdrive and escort vessels are expected to arrive in nine hours. However, the disabling of the Indefetigable's hyperdrives was part of a well prepared trap. A massive Federation fleet is baring down upon the Indefetigable, intent on crushing the massive flagship of the Empire's invasion force, and killing their commander and brilliant strategist, in one swift stroke. The Federation fleet includes 5 Sovereign class Starships, four Prometheus class starships, Thirty Galaxy class starships, forty Nebulas, ten Ambassadors, one hundred Excelsiors, one hundred Mirandas, fifty Akiras, thirty New Orleans, twenty Centaurs, 50 Steamrunners, 30 Norways, 30 Defiants, and 200 Peregrines. However, The Indefetigable isn't out there by it's self. In it's holds, and fully combat capable, are 600 TIE Defenders, 96 Missile boats, 72 armed shuttles, and 72 armed boarding transports. Still, it isn't just numbers. The combat is taking place inside an odd star system, consisting of three massive Blue-white supergiants, and two Green large stars, all co-orbiting in a very complex system, doused with radiation. Though no planets are capable of being formed, the system is strewn with millions.. possibly billions.. of asteroids and small planetoids, which combine to make sensor readings much less than spectacular. So.. Will the Federation fleet be able to destroy the Indefetigable before the escort and ships containing it's new Hyperdrives arrive to drive them off, or will the Federation survivors be fleeing an intact Indefetigable and a squadron of ISDs?

I almost typed up a response to this. Nice one.
:| Have a day.

The world won't grind to a halt for want of CMYK. It's not a precious fluid, and you don't need much of it compared to some of the examples given.
To blithely compare toner ink to Red Bull in such a fashion sickens me.

This was an oldie from ASVS. If you search for it on Google, it was basically a thread with about 1300 replies, the longest single thread on ASVS from 1999 to late 2000.

Me? I just blame The Duchess. She started it, damn it!

Best part of this thread is that eventually someone is going to mock the Duchess, and then someone else is going to grab something hilarious out of that person's posting history.

Not me though.

I am too smart for your tricks.

I always waited for something like this. I suppose that the Federation fleet will be destroyed by the Imperial rescue vessels, but the entire crew of the Eclipse would be long dead from laughs.

Well, first we must consider that the Federation uses the latest phasers on their ship, while the Eclipse has more primitive laser technology. As we know, lasers won't even penetrate the Federation's navigational def-

unnamed Bridge underling: "Sir, the asteroid field makes sensor readouts nearly useless."
Thrawn clone #832094: "Destroy any asteroid within range. That should take care of the problem."

unnamed Bridge underling: "Sir. A federation fleet of unidentified ships is approaching."
Thrawn clone #832094: "Man the turbolasers with the new rookie gunners. They can safely learn how to shoot today."

unnamed Bridge underling: "Sir. Enemy ships are circling around us. They show no tactic beyond brute force against our shilds. They are not concentrating fire. Oh and the gunners say the rookies are having quite a good time."
Thrawn clone #832094: "That's nice to hear. And could someone bring me my tea?"

An Eclipse ISD alone would be overkill against a fed fleet of 700 ships. And with TIE Defender and missile boats as a defense screen...
"Bring your thousands, I have my axe."
"Bring your cannons, I have my armor."
"Bring your mighty... I am my own champion."
Cue Unit-01 ramming half the Lance of Longinus down Adam's head and a bemused Gendo, "Wrong end, son."

96 MISSILE BOATS?

That's overkill. That's really overkill.

Those things are armed with 80 or so Advanced Concussion Missiles. (4 warhead launchers, 20 per launcher).

That's 7680 Advanced Concussion Missiles. There yield is similiar to a Proton Torpedoe, which itself is in the megaton to gigaton range (i've seen qoutes of 240 megatons or more).

The Missileboats by themselves should be able to rip the Federation forces apart.

Possibly without using their entire payload
I've been asked why I still follow a few of the people I know on Facebook with 'interesting political habits and view points'.

It's so when they comment on or approve of something, I know what pages to block/what not to vote for.
