Should I make this forum viewable by guests?

Post by Darth Wong »

This forum is currently visible only if you're logged in. I did this because it's a spoiler forum. But is this important? Is it worth the inconvenience of having to log in just to view the forum? Or should I make it guest-viewable?

I'm always logged in, thus resulting in me not giving a damn.

My opinion (for what it's worth)

Post by Pastor Andy »

As a long-time visitor to the site, I was considering whether or not to become registered. The fact that this particular forum was viewable only to those who had registered helped to make the decision for me. Thus, keeping this forum for registered users only may be seen as a possible "recruiting method."

The problem being that they wouldn't know about it until after they registered or read one of the posts that mentions it.

Hmm ... Is there a way to limit posts untill a person is registered for say 24 hours. That way we wouldn't get people reading one post and deciding to flame the board because of it.

Sort of a cooling off period for posting.

And that's exactly how I learned of this particular forum. I couldn't stand the idea of the latest piece of Trek-drivel being bandied about without at least availing myself of the discussion.

I don't see why this forum should not be opened to everyone. It is labelled "spoilers," so they know what they're getting. Besides, there's nothing secret going on here. It's not like the Moderator forum, where we need to have a closed forum to discuss things. I think it should be opened, though I am glad that some of our guests have decided to register as a result of this forum's closed status.

Open it up for peopl who are not logged in, so they can enjoy it, or to put it simpler.

It is both a pleasure and a privilege to join you. My only regret now is not registering sooner!

No real reason not to. There's a giant *Spoiler* tacked onto the title for those who didn't know that discussing a movie would spoil it.

OK, while the hidden forum appears to have gotten us at least one new recruit as an unexpected bonus, most people seem to be saying that it should be public-viewable. So it's now publicly viewable.

I never got poked. ::feels left out::

Anyway, getting back to the topic, it makes no real difference to me...

Terribly sorry. There's clearly been an oversight.

In that case, this thread has served its purpose. Thread closed.
