Might be the computer, or browser? Incompatible systems? I don't know.
For a long time, I've just gotten blank spaces in place of youtube videos when I visit this forum on my home computer. Don't know why. The problem I've described here is one I experience on public library computers, which are generally bordering on obsolete.
