Music to Kill to

Post by Setzer »

What music do you like having in the background when you're playing a war game?

Me, a good one is The Wars of the Last Wolves, by Taku Iwasaki.
If you spend the first minute of the song or so (in an RTS) building up your forces, then attack just as the music's tempo revs up, the effect complements your attack magnificently

Well, there's always "Grand Theft Auto" from the original game of the same name when I hit my rampages in that game. It just worked so great.

But nothing beats GTA3 when you tune in Double Cleff FM. Smashing peds, drive by shooting the cops and evading the long arm of the law to classical operas...is there anything better?

When playing ANY version of BF, I listen to a continuous loop of Bodies by Drowning Pool. Also, Welcome to the Jungle is great driving/drive-by music fo GTA:SA.

"Pompei" (sp) by ES Posthumus is my favorite song for violent moments. :)

Ooh, and "Vampire" by Die Krupps. That's a song I like to have in the background when I'm drawing gore, as well :D
"The rest of the poem plays upon that pun. On the contrary, says Catullus, although my verses are soft (molliculi ac parum pudici in line 8, reversing the play on words), they can arouse even limp old men. Should Furius and Aurelius have any remaining doubts about Catullus' virility, he offers to fuck them anally and orally to prove otherwise." - Catullus 16, Wikipedia

Several tracks from the neo-BSG soundtracks make excellent background music for Homeworld 2/PDS action. (I like to have Battlestar Muzaktica playing while I go through the menus.)

The Final Fantasy 6 boss battle music.

EDIT: Oh yeah, played by Umematsu and his rock band, the Black Mages.

Ska. Whenever I play Halo with my friends, I play ska as loudly as possible. Partly to drown out smack talk and partly because there is nothong that puts me in the zone better than Mustard Plug's Mr. Smiley.

Rammstein increased my urge to kill greatly. Unfortunately for those i team with in WoW this does cause me to do the occasional "Leeroy" killing my whole group.

I used to have a specific playlist on for this.

Metallica - Imperial March.
Most Blind Guardian songs.
The FF7 Safer Sephiroth theme. I think it's called "One Winged Angel."
Red Alert 2 - Hell March 2.
U2 - Sunday, Bloody Sunday
Ride of The Valkyries
1812 Overture
"Oh no, oh yeah, tell me how can it be so fair
That we dying younger hiding from the police man over there
Just for breathing in the air they wanna leave me in the chair
Electric shocking body rocking beat streeting me to death"

- A.B. Original, Report to the Mist

"I think it’s the duty of the comedian to find out where the line is drawn and cross it deliberately."

Slayer, of course. Doesn't that one word say it all? Wonderful songs such as "Angel of Death" and "Praise of Death" among others make it the perfect soundtrack to killing.

Say, do you want it to be a threesome with your wife? Or a foursome with your wife and sister-in-law? I'm up for either. :P

If you snip out the slow parts at the beginning and end, "Call of Ktulu" by Metallica is awesome killing music, particularly if it is played to video games that have explosions, tearing enemies apart with bare hands, or both.

For strategy games, Bolt Thrower and Malevolent Creation are authentic "war tunes." Both edge out slayer because of the better vocals. I attempt to stick to the slower songs, since the fast ones don't sit well in a strategy game setting.

Almost forgot:

Depending on the game, Benny Hill music can add sort of a surreal quality to it, particularly large Deathmatches with a lot of explosions.

That's the kind of music you should play when there's a streaker at a sports game...

Papa Roach and Mudvayne are particularly well suited to first person shooters.

Depends, but in First Person Shooters, I find that nothing works as effectively as the track from Doom called e1m4, or to those who know the names, Kitchen Ace & Taking Names.

For fighting games, the Mortal Kombat theme always comes into my head. Always.

For RPGs, it hugely varies, sometimes certain themes from FF, sometimes from KOTOR, and once Fallout.

For flight sims, its always something from Star Wars. Often Battle of Endor 1 (the part when the fleet first comes out of hyperspace).

I dunno the thing I can recall are Britney Spear's "Baby hit me one more time" (or something like that) that was coming from the Radio when I was Playing Mortal Kombat 2 and "Another bites the dust" by Queen (the orginal version) when playing some other game (which I can't recall).
