I could never read music, even back when I played an instrument. I had to memorise the actual notes/positions to play songs.

Back when I played the violin, I used to be able to read music. Those days are over, though.

Back when I played the violin I could read notes if
1) It was a simple scale going up or down
2) I spent 5 minutes figuring out what the first note of the scale was

Nowadays I'm completely clueless when it comes to reading notes.

Funny thing in my school, if you did not opt into band in the fifth grade, that area of life was foreeever barred to you.

Consquently because I wanted to do shop more that year I never learned how to read music (Minus one year of voice, which I remeber nothing off)

Playing an instrument, I can read music, but not nearly fast or well enough to play a song at the ideal tempo the first several times I see it, unless it's something really simple in the key of C.

Singing, I can, but only if the first note is given to me. I can't figure out a note just by hearing it for my life. Of course, there are some harmony parts where I can never remember what notes I am supposed to sing.

Treble and Bass cleff I can usually read. The C-cleff variants might take me a second or two of staring at it to get it calibrated in my mind. I do need to work on getting faster at reading everything, though

Yes. Playing them, though, is a different issue. I cannot play it "cold" (playing a song I've never heard before simply by reading the notes). In order to play something, I have to hear the song first.

As a former player of the baritone horn, I can read the bass clef like I can read english. In fact, I have a trumpet which I can use to play music written for the baritone horn, though it sounds decidedly different.

I used to, and fairly decently. Now, I'm basically lost when I look at sheet music. I can't even remember what the little numbers mean anymore, though I think it has to do with tempo.

You mean numbers like 3/4, 2/4, 4/4, and such? They actually tells you about the ryhtm. 3/4, for instance, says that the music is a waltz. Tempo is indicated by words instead of numbers.

Top number: How many beats per measure
Bottom number: which subdivision equals the beat.

Example: 6/8: 6 beats per measure, eigth notes are counted as beats.
15/16: 15 beats per measure, 16th notes are counted as beats.

I can read treble and bass clef very well, alto and tenor a little bit (I have to relate everything back to middle C but after a minute I get into the groove), and of course I can read neutral clef 'cause it's easy as pie!

And I can't really read tab. :P

Yes, but oftentimes I have to use my insturment to figure out some of the more difficult parts. I'm probably out of practice.
