That should be a VSD-I in the picture. Imperators can't enter the atmosphere :D

Humpf. The Millenium Falcon doesn't belong in Conquest, so the scene can't fit in it. Unless, of course, its another ship. It has been a while since I read it.

The closest thing to this that I can recall is The E-E crew escaping VSD's in a blast boat. San Francisco got hit from orbit by 50 star destroyers. There was no air ground assault until after the surrender.

I'd expect it would fall through. The whole bridge can take more then AT-AT's overall weight with ease, but not four small spots.
