I think they did Ghost Ship back in the 1980's as I recall.

The Closest to the Ring I could find would be "Brainstorm" with Natille Wood.

I work in a cinema, and i was ripping tickets last night. Every three people were going to see the ring. A lot of those people came out 20 minutes later asking for refunds because their kids got scared. God god, help us all. "Honey, lets bring our kids to a horror movie thats supposed to make Event Horizon look like a kid's show!" Fucking ignorant parents.

Heh lol. That happened a lot when there was the Reign of Fire....Hannibal.....The Glass House.....virtually every R-rated movie that ever got there....

Something like that. I'm not a big horror movie fan. Though I do know that there are a couple of sequels and a prequel.
