Pasco, WA (Tri-Cities) WWII Aircraft

Some World War II historians didn't know what they were getting in to, so I got to climb inside these World War II aircraft on display the other day. I will link the pictures I found most interesting. I will be happy to answer whatever questions I can.

The aircraft were the B-17G Flying Fortress Nine-O-Nine, the B-24J Liberator Witchcraft, and an F-51D Mustang.

Looking aft through the bomb-bay (the only way through was between the V-shaped supports.) Needless to say, it was a tight fit for a big fat guy, like me:

In this plane there are two machine guns mounted to the aft of the bomb-bay. You can see the starboard one slightly to the fore, and the port one slightly aft:

Here's the ball turret, which is just aft of the Bomb-Bay Image

I had to squeeze around it on the port side, which was, needless to say, quite difficult for a fatty like me. You can just barely see the black walkway on the right in this picture.

BTW, getting to climb inside these aircraft was the coolest thing I've ever done...since the submarine at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago!
