Back at it....

Post by Grahf: Seeker Of Power »

So I have not done anything interesting in a while and after watching nBSG I decided to make a battlestar. This is the preliminary design. Critique away>>>>

She's incredibly skinny in the waist, but other than that she seems like a pretty decent ish battlestar.
Pre-pegasus but post Galactica I assume? She looks older.

Rear seems a bit bare, but otherwise, it looks great. Never properly seen either BSG (youtube clips and gifs only), but frankly, I think it looks better than the battlestars in the show.

Looking forward to seeing how it develops.

After many episodes of Farscape I have completed the basic geometry and many of the exterior details:

I take back any doubts I had, because damn son, she's purty...
Great details. Have you given thought to backstory or statistics?

It is called Battlestar Nemesis. The Valkyries were pretty old designs and I wanted a new midsize ship. It is ~1000m long, so only about 3-4 the size of Galactica. Simultaneous launch of 24 vipers per hangar pod so 48 total, around 150 vipers. I figured that Pegasus used it's main gun ports on the front often enough that I installed 2 experimental MAC weapons up front. From the fluff i've read the KEW's the colonials use are conventional and not MACs.

She's barely even a third the length :D Galactica is 1500 metres.

Ah, so it's something of a predecessor to the Pegasus class?

Other than adding in point defense turrets it is pretty much finished:

The landing bay seems awfully close to the engines. That would make for a rough and dangerous landing. Especially combat landings.

1000m is ~2/3 the size of Galactica's 1500m, which isn't that far off from 3/4, as Grahf estimated.

I... I have no idea how I managed that one. *Shakes head*

Are you going to texture and shade it or was this a modelling practice?

I have no idea how to texture or shade. They only reason they are even rendered is because there is a plugin for sketchup that lets your export models to Kerkythea.

So I'm back at it....again. Both are remastered versions of old models.
