Post by fordlltwm »

My parents made silage on the weekend, here's a few photo's that I've played with on Gimp to get the monochrome / colour split

Wrapping was done at nearly midnight, we aren't rich enough / have a big enough access road to afford a combined baler wrapper.

What's the year/model of the tractor in the second photo? It looks nearly identical similar to the last one owned by my grandfather's farm.
Note: I'm semi-retired from the board, so if you need something, please be patient.

She's a 1963(ish) Fordson Super Dexta, running a Vicon Acrobat rake.

The other two are a 1987(ish) Ford 4610 GenII and a 1970's Leyland 285

Life and the farm is a cool thing. Where I am from in the USA's midwest, there were a lot of family farms when I was a kid. Unfortunately, that appears to be changing. Cities are expanding and people are moving into the country. Plus, corporate farm companies seem to be putting a lot of small family farms out of business. I didn't grow up on an actual farm, but your pictures do take me back; as I had friends who were farm kids. Great photos. Thanks for posting them.

Nice work. I like these a lot.

Where I live, about a 40-minute drive outside of Philadelphia, PA, USA, among McMansions and the endless sprawl of suburban shopping centers, you still see the occasional tractor pulling a heavily-laden trailer with hay, or other farm equipment making its way along the main street:
