Capaldi's Doctor was able to consistently fly the TARDIS without any issues at all.
The 7th Doctor never had any issues flying the TARDIS.

Re: Space Battleship Yamato 2202

The live action Space Battleship Yamato movie is a different beast altogether. Which is a good thing, as it was rather lackluster (though with some great SFX) and incredibly jammed plot - which is almost inevitable when you're trying to squeeze 26 episodes into a two hour time frame. Space Battleshi...

Re: Space Battleship Yamato 2202

It's moved beyond that, honestly.

Now Earth (Japan) and Gamilon (America) are allies, fighting the common enemy of Gatlantis.

Re: Space Battleship Yamato 2202

A little more digging and I found something that might make the formation a bit clearer. https://i.imgur.com/8NPsXNA.png The planet in front is the 11th planet. The shape at the top stretching off both sides of the image is the Gatlantis ships moving into position around the artificial star. Yamato ...

Re: Space Battleship Yamato 2202

Up to episode 10 of this series is now available and ... it's surprisingly complex in terms of morality, even if Kodai is acting a bit like a prat at times. Okita's ghost is literally and figuratively hanging over the ship, his impact as former Captain giving Kodai damn near impossible shoes to fill...

That could be possible, yes. Except that by that time the first Doctor was quite frail and he'd have the two companions with him in any outside scenes.

Re: Doctor Who S36E12: The Doctor Falls (spoilers)

The TARDIS takes the Doctor to an unknown location, as evidenced by the Doctor yelling at it. The Doctor goes outside. A mysterious figure approaches. The Doctor yells out "I am the Doctor!" The figures steps forward and says "No, I am the Doctor, the original you might say!" Wh...

Re: Doctor Who S36E12: The Doctor Falls (spoilers)

I think a better ending for Bill would have been an unhappy sacrifice based one, rather than a trope ridden happily-ever-after piece of Disney nonsense. She finds the Doctor, who is unable to stand by this point, and protects him from Cyber blast after cyber blast. The Doctor uses the old key+sonic ...

Re: Doctor Who 10x05 Oxygen

It wasn't a thing from the films, it was from the first story with the Daleks. The Doctor sabotages the TARDIS by removing a mercury fluid link, in order to force everyone to explore the Dalek city.

Is the spoiler tag broken? I can't make that text show.

Doctor Who 10x05 Oxygen

Capaldi's run has, unfortunately, been tarnished by some truly terrible stories such as Kill the Moon and whatever the hell that forest thing was. This season, however, has been great episode after great episode. Oxygen is no exception. This one really harkens back to the days of the early 4th Docto...

Re: Space Battleship Yamato 2202

Episode 2: More low key than the first, as you'd expect. This seems more focused on what the previous Yamato crew have been up to. Gamilon have an Embassy on the Moon. Earth captured a live CE soldier from the wreckage of the Super Dreadnaught, who analyses shows was artificially enhanced. And the c...

Re: Space Battleship Yamato 2202

I'm watching episode 1 right now. Spoilers ahoy! The opening has the Comet Empire, accompanied by awesome organ music, blowing the bejeezus out of an island because they have rather big weapons and can blow up whatever the hell they like. The leader monologues a bit how the Universe is alive and nee...

Doctor Who 10x03 Thin Ice

The Doctor and Bill go back and fight stereotypes, white washing, dubious pies and a giant river monster (no, not Song). I rather enjoyed this one, even if a couple of things made no sense - namely how did the Doctor and Bill climb up through that ice hole wearing weighted diving suits and how did t...

Re: Doctor Who S36E2 "Smile" [Spoilers]

It wasn't a bad episode but it also certainly wasn't spectacular.
Bill is coming across as capable and nowhere near as annoying as feared.

They keep dropping hints about the vault and the Doctor's promise, so I guess that's definitely this seasons little arc.

Re: Doctor Who S36E1 "The Pilot" [Spoilers]

Hm. We never did find out which race made that ship (and the liquid in it), did we? We did hear voices that sounded extremely Ice Warrior-ish but surely intelligent time travelling liquid tech is waaaaaaaaaaaay beyond them. I was surprised they included the Movellans again, though the type of Daleks...

Well, that was better than I expected. I love the idea of The Doctor being a University lecturer and the touches in his office were great, from the pen holder being full of old sonics to the photo of Susan. (And I do wish they'd revisit Susan at some point, I know they did in the novels but ... meh....
