Re: Avengers (Spoilers)
From what I've read the Mandarin is going to be the next villain, and they've cast Ben Kingsley for the role. It looks promising, but they'll probably have to make the ten rings technology-based for the character to work. And give him some actual clothing to wear. :P Hang on a minute. They want to ...

Re: New GI Joe Retaliation Trailer
I really don't remember the character that well. There was his couple of appearances in Renegades, but it's mainly his eyepatch, stache, and robot arm that I remember being distinctive.
Any hard man type actor would work, I guess.

No, that's DJ Cotrona who's playing Flint.Crazedwraith wrote:Isn't Duke the guy saying 'there all dead' after the attack? He makes it. I think they're just de-emphasising him in the trailers for the people that didn't like the first film.

I don't know if they really cared. They could have saved vastly more people than they did. That's kinda douchey.

Re: Knowing (SPOILERS)
Pretty sure that's mostly exactly what's going on. There's some stuff about free will and predeterminism, but it takes a solid stance on that one.
It's funny how much Cage and the rest do in the film ultimately means absolutely nothing.

Or maybe the space jockeys want visitors, then the jerk humans decide to steal their tech, so the space jockeys are all "screw all y'all," and then decide to wipe out humanity for being jerks.

Re: "Chronicle" Preview
The movie looks good, but goddamn some of the people looking forward to it are annoying. Look at the comments section about it at IMDb, for example. Someone will say, rationally I might add, that though a lot of it is handheld-style, there's also quite a bit of traditional camerawork (explained in-...

Re: Filming Begins on "Star Trek" Sequel
I wonder if they're going to add in a subplot or have the movie include a short sequence with Kirk interacting with another captain who'll get spun off into a TV series.
Probably not though.

Re: Filming Begins on "Star Trek" Sequel
Personally, I'm glad there's such a large gap of time. It'll build up anticipation to see Star Trek again -- something that wasn't possible a decade ago due to the over-saturation of the market. These guys aren't getting any younger. This isn't a TV show, so if you want a series of films with the s...

Doubtful, since it's still a sequel. They didn't show JGL hawking cars in the first one, remember.

The sequel, The Rock challenges the upstart that dare take his title as the People's Champion. That said, it's pretty dumb, but works its moments well. And man, does Jackman skirt the line between intolerable and likeable in this. The robot boxing scenes are pretty great, IMAX was worth it. Boxing a...

Re: Conan (spoilers ok)
The new movie plays like the old movie? Say what? Ok its been a while since I have seen the Arnie version, but I am do remember several differences, namely Conan doesn't get captured and tortured as he infiltrates the Big Bad's lair, and the love interest this time was a sacrifice rather than the f...

Re: Conan (spoilers ok)
Wait, people are saying that the new movie is closer to the original source material? How much closer is that? Because the new movie basically plays like a remake of the old movie, other than making Conan a little more jovial at times and quicker on his feet.

How the hell did that cost $90M? Maybe they should have spent the money they used for mediocre 3D to make the actual movie better.

Re: Conan (spoilers ok)
So, uh, it's really not that good. It's basically a two-parter from some low-rent cable TV series with a couple of thousand bucks thrown in to try to make it feature quality. Any interesting environments you think you're going to see are actually (digital) matte paintings used for establishing shots...

All the channels on cable, and you get 19 shows about pawnshops. It's an actual genre at this point.
Making something original is hard, copying what already "works" is easier. That's what's wrong.

Re: Captain America SPOILERS!
Divide that $170M by two and you'll get closer to what the film's revenue is up to this point. The theaters get about half of the Box Office gross. You also need to throw in marketing costs since the $140M was the production budget.

Re: Captain America SPOILERS!
It's not incredible, but it's pretty good for post-converted 3D. There's some minor enhancement, if that's worth the surcharge to you. If you don't care that much about 3D, just see the 2D version.

SideNote: The DoubleDate at Stark's World Expo was great. The artificial man on display may be a lead-in to The Vision, or could be another old Hero the Red Tornado who was also a robot/android. While it wasn't the IronMan entrance, Stark Sr. also knew how to play the crowds. The anti-grav car was ...
