Re: Your closest brush with death?

Rolled a van once. Could very easily been killed by any of the tools and supplies bouncing around in the back. Another time the armrest on a couch I was sitting on broke. When I put my hand down to stop my fall, there was a piece of wood sticking out that tore a large chunk of skin out of my forearm...

Dude XWvTIE, Civ and worms ate up so much of my time over the years. Never had any Warcraft, but did have both the Starcraft games.

Gonna have to second the reading the booklets repeatedly too

Re: What if - Droid Rebellion on the Death Star (ANH)

Life support might not me the most urgent issue. It all depends on how the reactor handles the loss of the computer systems keeping it operating safely. There's tons of space in there, so you probably have oxygen for a couple days. If the reactor goes off, anything in the general vicinity is toast....

I distinctly remember 3 million from somewhere, but I could be wrong. I'll echo that the problem wasn't the ridiculous minimalism and wankery, it was her reaction to being called on it.

Re: What's up with Karen Traviss novels?

For the minimalism, in one of her books she claimed that there were only 3 million clones. Period. The fact that we see more than that on screen was irrelevant to her. When someone pointed that out, she wrote a short story where it was possible because the Jedi were colluding with Palpatine.

Conditions aboard the ship must be interesting considering the gravity necessary for that to happen. Also, they're within the Roche limit, for whatever that's worth.

Clearly they didn't pay the Illuminati enough to land the probes.

Actually it's sort of nice to see smaller countries getting into the space game. Hopefully this won't set them back too much.

I was going to make a joke about how the proposals would never be accepted by Americans. The punch line being due to adoption of the metric system rather than the more obvious affordable health care or the communism labelling per se. But then I thought it might be considered rar rar America hate. B...

You are incorrect.

Farenheit is simpler. 0 is way too fuckin cold, 100 is way too fuckin hot, and theres a large enough variance in between to accurately represent where your comfort level is.

Farenheit is the superior way to measure temperature. Other than that, Metric is the way to go.

Also I failed English several semesters in a row. I'm not sure I could handle Grammar Nazism being encoded into law.

Repeat about 10 times, including mentions of calling other stores in the area, including our competitors. Some people get really into their brand loyalty.

Were you similarly upset by the Praxis shockwave in TUC? That wasn't even a star exploding. How is it even remotely the same thing? Where was the Excelsior when they were hit by the shockwave? Unless they were somewhere in the Klingon home system it shouldn't have even registered on their sensors. ...
