Re: WANDAVISION (SPOILERS, SWEETIE!)
What sucks for me is that those goofy comedy/social awkwardness moments hit my anxiety dead on. Stupid generalized anxiety disorder. I actually find the intrusions of the weird and other-ness comforting. So far the show has been hard for me to watch, but things seem to be escalating in that regard, ...

Re: Trump/Republican Coup Thread
Hang on... Does this mean that 186 representatives are OK with Trump behaving like he does??? What the actual fuck? What is WRONG with these people? Tribalism? That and threats -- both physical and to possible re-election in the future. Mostly, they say, the former. To which AOC and other democrats...

Re: Wonder Woman 1984 Discussion Thread (spoilers)
I recently saw a video regarding what may have happened, and it may be that the 'end' of the DCEU project/Snyderverse caused a lot of reworking/rewriting, later on, so whatever it was going to be was changed time and again, and what was left was a mess. Regardless, I am curious to hear what happened...

Re: Wonder Woman 1984 Discussion Thread (spoilers)
I think this review points out the problems with the film rather well. I haven't seen it yet, and this review has got me in the "Yikes!" side of how things have been done. Which sucks, I like the character, I liked the last film (flawed though it was). But this just sounds... repugnant.

Godzilla: Singularity Point
Just had its teaser trailer released , slated to come out in the 4th quarter of 2021. Here's the Youtube Japanese Trailer if twitter is no good. Brief Thoughts: Intriguing setup. It seems like the red smoke and the kaiju are linked in some way, and we got some deep cuts. A truly Pteranodon-like Rod...

Re: BBC America Greenlights "CSI: Ankh-Morpork"
Indeed. From what little I've read of the series, making a "faithful" adaptation that's also enjoyable would be pretty difficult. A lot of the humor of Discworld, for me at least, comes from the asides and background details rather than the events themselves. ... And now I'm picturing a D...

Re: Return of the Prehistoric Monsters! RAR!
So, realistically, the global ecosystem gets the global equal of a person with organ failure getting multiple organ transplants, the animals are smart enough to avoid humans (so the odds of hitting one with a car is low), and the plans can be cut back. Really, besides an increase in bio and ecodive...

Re: Return of the Prehistoric Monsters! RAR!
Trees would mostly hit farmland. It's big open areas that are about 51% of total UK area, with another 16% being gardens and recreational areas. Compare to 8% under tarmac or buildings, or 8% under forest already. The world land area is 148 940 000 km squared according to wiki. 560 million trees, s...

Re: Return of the Prehistoric Monsters! RAR!
It's taken me half a damn year, but I finally ran some of the numbers for what creatures would be showing up. About 2000 species. This includes things like 2 Million Bison, Elephants, which wouldn't be small things to deal with. But, let's start with the Arthropods. I'll bold ones I think may be the...

Re: Revamping Buffy Season 8: Slayers Around the World and their Organiation
A sister of hers is an important character in an actually canonical tie-in novel, so her story is brought up a lot. Ooh, what's the novel's title? There's a used bookstore near here that sometimes carries old Buffy novels, so I might be able to get ahold of it cheap. It's actually a recent publicat...

Re: Revamping Buffy Season 8: Slayers Around the World and their Organiation
Just some notes, because I love how this has gone so far. Well, there's also the tradition thing. Slayers may be expendable, but at the same time, the Council probably has strong taboos against killing them (and humans in general). Especially as Watchers who have actually worked with a Slayer may of...

Revamping Buffy Season 8: Slayers Around the World and their Organiation
I've been thinking of Buffy as of late, and I wanted to at least work out in print/spitball some thoughts on Season 8 through 12 of the series (the comics, for those that don’t remember). They do have their shining moments, and some nifty ideas, but they also have quite a few (big) stumbles. For tho...

Stupid Non-Spoiler-y things I enjoyed from it. But I'll put them under spoilers just to be safe: 1) The Corner Hounds being the Hounds of Tindalos and H.P. Lovecraft's history in the Dresden-verse being confirmed as "Agent of Venatori Umbrorum agent who was kicked out for giving info to the Thu...

Re: DC Animated “Justice League DARK”… and its crushing disappointment. [SPOILERS]
I think the fact that they thought to incorporate elements from godddamn "Future's End" - one of the worst crossover stories DC has ever produced, tells me exactly how bad it is without even seeing it.

Yeah, the Black Panthers tried that, and the NRA helped pass an Open Carry ban.

Speed of ships without using Hyperdrives?
Couldn't really find this topic of discussion, it may be better served as part of the Vs board, but it's a purely Star Wars question: How fast can ships in Star Wars go without engaging their Hypderdrives? I can think of a few instances from which a calculation might be worked out, but as far as I a...
