Re: Hard drive is fucked. Who can fix it?
I have a friend whose ex systematically destroyed every copy of his doctoral dissertation, and he said it cost him several thousand dollars (3k I think? this was a while back) to have restored. But he got it back and said it was worth every penny, especially as she eventually had to pay for it. From...

Re: Physics challenge: stringy ships
It is my intuitive understanding that it is a purely coordinate effect and from it's own frame of reference it won't have meaningfully altered. From an outside frame of reference it could be that the string is so warped that it could be considered broken, but if they slow back down at a rate approp...

Re: Domestic Abuse "game"; hit a girl for points.
Also, getting a scummy feeling from smacking around an actress in a game? Really? I know, but it was a tad too realistic for my taste (especially with her being a real human, rather than a CG character), enough to quit the "game" without finishing. I will say that having just stopped play...

Re: Domestic Abuse "game"; hit a girl for points.
Terrible. To begin with the entire underlying game is flawed, as there is no way to lose (or rather, win?) and your score can only increase. Secondly, motivation. I felt a little bad about abusing a girl for no real reason other than points to be honest. That and writing this review. I suppose if I ...

But to be fair, if you have a grounding bracelet you might as well wear it. I love mine and always wear it when working on anything that static could be a problem for.

Re: Anyone still play Dawn of War?
Hey, lucky break. Just got out of some HoI2. I downloaded the mod but haven't installed or tried it out yet, if you are up for some vanilla for now I can play. I would prefer to look over the mod's gameplay changes before I played against a human in it, lest I seem horribly inept.

Re: Anyone still play Dawn of War?
Do you play the mod exclusively or do you dabble in vanilla as well? Vanilla is not exactly what I would call balanced, but a great number of mods do things I disagree with as well. Also if you don't have AIM then PMing me is fine also, just be aware I don't check them that much.

I play vanilla DC quite often after 5 EST on weekdays. AIM me, I'm invisible 99% of the time but very much there.

Re: Testing Limit of Autodelete
Knife, there were plenty of thread topics that were interesting to discuss, but most likely would have been locked for their content if in the respective forum. There is a place between the main forums' standard of posting and spamming. Testing filled that gap, allowing people to post humorous or s...

Re: HoI3 Released: Broken on Launch (Surprise!)
It seems that the German and US sprite packs are available for download on Steam for the low low price of 2.00 each. Apparently I just missed this glorious bit of humor since it says they were released on the same day as HoI3, but that also means they planned in advance to milk money from them. I me...

Re: Pulling sound files from youtube.
Maybe I'm a little late, but I have to second the reccomendation for Audacity. It's a very nice program that lets you snag soundstreams from many sources and do all kinds of neat things to them. Combine it with SoundForge and you should have all the audio tools the average person needs.

Well many things could happen due to acts of plot, but at this point it looks like V is pretty much screwed. Also, Xykon just cast a 12th level spell. How high is his level, anyway?

Re: When did Wolverine become so wanky?
As someone who knows very little about comics, I have to ask: If his bones are coated in the adamantium and it was all yanked out... wouldn't the connection between his brain and spinal cord be severed while the brain itself was pulled out and crushed to a gooey paste? You can't just re-grow a brain...

Re: Opinions which really do prove stupidity
How about people who honestly think that there is no life in the entire universe except what is on Earth? Even if a child has no idea how big the universe actually is (it still boggles my mind on occasion) they know that there are huge numbers of stars and planets out there and things can no doubt l...

Small correction, it seems the version is going to be the 1.3 beta released in January unless someone would rather play the older one for whatever reason.

Hearts of Iron 2: Armageddon Game
So a friend and I are starting up a Hearts of Iron 2 game but lack people. Since I know I've seen a thread or two about the game here I was wondering if anyone cared to join? 1.2 patch Armageddon is the version, and our skill levels are both pretty average. Drop me a PM or reply in the thread if you...

Re: Mystery plant with scary thorns
Did it have lots of red berries in bushels? If so, it was without any doubt pyracantha. If not, it might just have been out of season. I have a couple of those bushes in my yard and they are horrific to be around at times. The 1-3 inch thorns are coated in a sort of viciously burning but ultimately ...

Re: Asking Your "Name"
I would consider it quite rude. Then again, I've been working and playing on the web almost every day for 11 to 12 years now, and I can count the number of times I have mentioned my name on one hand. It's just not kosher to ask for information like that. I am willing to admit that it may be part of ...

My mistake, I don't even know what I was thinking. I've been doing so many higher order differentials lately it must have fried my brain. Lack of sleep couldn't have helped either.Colonel Olrik wrote:Ar-Adunakhor wrote:Double prime, or so I would assume. Solution is zero.

Thanks for the replies, everyone! The duration of the day/night cycle being (quite a bit) different would probably be my biggest hurdle as far as the environment goes, but I'm willing to work with that. Rainfall seems to be about half what I am accustomed to in all areas except the Norwegian coast, ...
