Tie fighters are dangerous spacecraft and the pilots are pros not expendable! (unless it will lead you to the rebel base lol) i think this rack system would be useful for storing ships in hangars. Maintanence and takeoff would probably be done in the open space of the main docking bay, not the crowd...
