Re: The 13th Tribe Book II: A Symphony of War

The UNSC doesn't use tac-nukes on the ground on Reach in canon as the EMP would fuck up the orbital guns (somehow). Plus I don't think they want to set off nukes on Reach if they can possibly help it. As for the 304 under the shield, yeah that'd be a good idea...but I can't let the humans get it al...

Yeah, my aversion to ground combat is more for the small-scale unit firefights than army-level stuff. I just don't know it well enough to write it convincingly. Larger-scale things, well, I've read enough of Tom Clancy's books (currently re-reading Red Storm Rising) and other stuff online (the unme...

I realize you likely had the ill-fated 7th US Cavalry in mind, Phil, but there is/was a 7th Lusatian Naval Landing Division in the Polish Army(closest thing Poland had to marines). Just saying.

I knew Sabaton would figure in there somewhere. I was just expecting "The Lost Battalion" and "The Last Stand." Or, even "Rorke's Drift." I see you went with the version of "Men of Harlech" from Zulu instead of the more traditional version. Zulu is also a guil...

Purely hypothetical- I know perfectly well that treating them as such in practice would be impossible, short of them being on the losing side of a civil war. However, as a hypothetical/moral question, leaving aside practical consideration, do the actions of Republican leadership across various leve...

Ok, spaceflight geek rant over. I have a horrible suspicion that Mars would become a more distant arena for Cold War-era proxy wars, sending information, weapons (perhaps even nukes) to the smaller groups on the surface to use against the larger groups in return for details of the fusion reactors. ...

I see an attempt being made to 'kidnap' some of the machines for study, including if they are vulnerable to Electro-magnetic pulses. Assuming they are vulnerable to EMP, then I can see us using high altitude nukes to try to knock the machines offline before a massive invasion. Alternatively, I can ...

Re: Odds of Nuclear War rise sharply- India bombs Pakistan in retaliation for terrorist attack.

I used to think local/regional/limited nuclear war was impossible, but I think India vs. Pakistan is actually a situation where that could happen. Not that I ever want to test that theory, but if they just nuke each other I don't see a motivation for any of the other nuclear powers to get involved....
