So Trump does, what he already did with the companies he managed in the past - he sucks them dry as much as he can.

Re: Transporters on complex powered machinery?

In the novels it was a point of supplying people like Kirk and "Bones" McCoy with real coffee instead of stuff from the replicator, so what seems to be plus for transporter-technology was a loss at the replicator-front.

Re: Transporters on complex powered machinery?

IIRC, the Enterprise-D of the alternative timeline from "Yesterday's Enterprise" http://memory-alpha.wikia.com/wiki/Yesterday%27s_Enterprise_(episode), where they met the Enterprise-C and were at war with the Klingon Empire could carry 6,000 troops and deliver them to their targets per tra...

Re: Purpose and value of modern trade agreements

Well, it all depends on what the prospective parters write in their trade-agreements. Would you be in support, if they agree on trading their goods freely, but for the goods to be able to be sold in a certain market they have to meet the local standards? What if your standards on quality and enviro...

Out of curiosity, why the ISD1-style array on the conning tower? Is this ship-class supposed to predate ANH? One of the references that went into the ship was Old Republic. Perhaps this image? http://www.theforce.net/swtc/Pix/comics/tales/21/important1.jpg :D Maybe your next project could be one of...

But, but ... if that law turns into practice those dirty foreigners will pollute our nice and tidy neighbourhoods, pulling down the prices for our homes and infesting our pets with fleas. Better they stay among their own kind in the ghetto, where they belong. :angelic:

When technology can provide IQ boosting genetic fixes and cybernetic implants it will be able to adress these issues more effectively. What have intelligence and cybernetic implants to do with morals and decency? Humans are already intelligent enough to identify problems and come up with a solution...

Stalin was on to something, when he said the solution to every problem was death, since the source of every problem was man.

Re: During Speech Trump Cites Imaginary Terrorist Attack on Sweden

How many people die because of guns every year in the USA again? Thirty-thousand? That are 83 people every day. I don't know about you, but in other countries this would be called civil war. And the americans piss themselves about arabs and mexicans? Somebody needs to get his priorities right.

Even during the age of sail there were large pirate-groups operative. Think of Henry Morgan https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henry_Morgan#Attacks_on_Puerto_Principe_and_Porto_Bello_.281667.E2.80.931668.29 (although he was more of a privateer) or Edward Teach https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blackbeard#Enl...

Well, how do you accelerate your lump of iron to 25% of lightspeed? It the propulsion comes from the torpodo you'd have less mass for your warhead. Does it come from the ship firing? Since ST-ships use some mass-lightning technology - IIRC - to achive higher sublightspeeds, do we know, if they are e...

Eh, arguably would have been the smarter move. Think of everything you could sell aboard an SSD (without painting a huge, difficult to maintain target on your back). Consumables, fuel, computers, various pieces of equipment, personal arms and body armour, heavy armaments, ground vehicles, small spa...

I wouldn't mind a Remake of "The Six-Million Dollar Man" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Six_Million_Dollar_Man . Considering the current advances in prothestics and humans capable of upgrading themselves (transhumanists) it could inspire widespread discussion about the merging of man an...

How do you know, that Snape DIDN'T inform Dumbledore about Quirrel and Lockhart? In other news Rex Tillerson, Manager of Exxon Mobile (the company that ruined Alaska's coasts in 1989) has been appointed by Trump as his Foreign Secretary to be.

For somebody, who has promised to drain the swamp Mr. Trump is assembling a lot of frogs for his cabinett.

Didn't it say somewhere, that Grindelwald followed at least some twisted code of honour which lead him to his final duel with Dumbledore, while Voldemort evaded to do so as long as he could? Might explain Grindelwald holding back, he doesn't want to maim and kill, but to convert.

You want a Munificient-class frigate with a cloaking-device.

Regarding cloaking-device from what we learn in TPM and TESB it is more likely for large ships to have cloaking-devices, not small ones. The Terror was an Executor-class Dreadnought with a cloaking device.

Isn't it the purpose of a constitution to prevent the majority to run roughshod over the minority?
