Re: [TV Series] Ahsoka Discussion Thread [Unmarked Spoilers!]
It was similar in Legends. The First Order/Sith Eternal would be analogous to the Imperial forces that the reborn Emperor consolidated around Byss. Thrawn was left out of that too and had to make do with the scraps that were left behind.

Re: [TV Series] Ahsoka Discussion Thread [Unmarked Spoilers!]
And just how ungodly fast is hyperspace travel now? Was there anything preventing the Empire or even the Old Republic from building a ship like the Eye of Sion and traveling so far outside their home galaxy in a matter of hours or days? The Wookiepedia indicates that only the real challenge would be...

Re: [TV Series] Ahsoka Discussion Thread [Unmarked Spoilers!]
Coruscant sure seems to be the capital of the New Republic in this. I wonder if they lost it in the divorce when the Centrist systems left to form the First Order in 29 ABY.

The old EU may have been shit overall, but it did have some good ideas. I can't blame them for plundering it.

Re: Picard - general discussion [spoilers]
Why would Kirk's reappearance in the 24th century be any worse than all the other weird shit that routinely happens in Star Trek? Surely Picard was able to explain what happened and how the nexus was a timeless realm that Kirk was trapped in all those years.

I'd imagine that Filoni is using it to lay the groundwork for what eventually happens to the New Republic.

Re: The Mandalorian Discussion Thread (spoilers and such)
A big part of the new lore that many people aren't aware of is the fact that the New Republic had already split several years prior to the sequel trilogy: After the assassination of Tai-Lin Garr, Lady Carise and her Centrist counterparts began preparing a motion to secede from the New Republic in or...

Re: No Disintegrations
I wonder how trusted bounty hunters are. If one of them reports that a target was killed and there's no proof, does the guild take them at their word with the proviso that their life is forfeit if that target resurfaces later? And there are other ways to disintegrate a target without some phaser-lik...

Or maybe Boba Fett is just as pragmatic about bounty hunting as SLJ is in The Hateful Eight:

Re: No Disintegrations
This is something I've got a problem with most depictions of Vader in the comics -- they always default to making Vader being "Atrocities for breakfast, lunch AND dinner" along with "kicking people's puppies to show how evil he is"; when in the 30-45 minute screen time we see in...

I wonder if Vader knew that one of his men blasted Threepio. If he did, I wonder if he had a problem with it.

Well, they kinda did...
Maybe they only thought he was being controlled by the Sith though, even unwittingly.

It may have also been an unspoken threat against the more trigger-happy elements of the assembled group.
In other words: "You kill them, you die too. I need them alive and that's not optional. Fuck my plans up at your own peril."

Re: How many people during the Empire knew Palpatine was a Sith?
ANAKIN: I've just learned a terrible truth. I think Chancellor Palpatine is a Sith Lord. MACE WINDU: A Sith Lord? Jackson's line delivery always sounded odd to me in that scene. "A Sith... Lord ??" As if the Jedi council already suspected that Palpatine may be affiliated with the Sith in ...

Also, Exegol was home to innumerable Sith cultists that would have been at Palpatine's disposal at least as far back as just after TESB.

Re: How many people during the Empire knew Palpatine was a Sith?
I'm not too fussed about people being able to survive combat with Force users. Jedi and such are good, but as we see in the Clone Wars, they're beatable. How times have changed. I remember when the prevailing belief around here was that precognition and telekinesis made Force-users pretty much invi...

Re: How many people during the Empire knew Palpatine was a Sith?
I'm sure that Yoda and Obi-Wan told Bail Organa, who no doubt leaked it to others he thought he could trust over the decades. But since it was never really safe to identify the source of that leak, it was probably dismissed as a silly rumor by most (even by those who believed it was true).

The Death Star would have merely become Vader's second prison (the first being his suit).

Re: We need to talk about Andor
I got pretty strong Stalinist purge feeling vibes, and I'm coming around to Palpatine knowing about and letting the Rebellion happen as a "long game" thing. I keep half-expecting it to be revealed that Luthen is a re-imagining of Galen Marek from The Force Unleashed. Between the Starkille...

No, he was just taking shelter inside it while the Executor was raining down biggatons of turbolasers. It's just a toppled water tank (I think).
