Re: Lightsabers
You folks do realize the "twin-sun" stance by Musashi has both swords held high... It is not that odd of a posture historically. I to have seen it used in wester styles for saber fighting The overhead stance allows you to drop your blade while approaching to block, and then on the way to t...

Re: Lightsabers
I recall Lucas saying that Lightsabers were really heavy when they were doing the OT. I believe he was referring to the props being used for them with an active blade. EP IV had expecially heavy props as they had a mechanically driven rotating reflective blade. As for the in universe mass. The hilt...

Re: The Spiral Zone (80's Toy/Comic/Cartoon Franchise)
"Puts hair on your chest son!", is a comment I read long ago about the SZ intro theme. :D He wrote the pilot and is credited under "Fettes Gray" or somesuch for it. I would have given an auxilliary organ to have heard the pitch discussion for this show. It had to be carpet bombed...

The Spiral Zone (80's Toy/Comic/Cartoon Franchise)
"Surrender, or pay the consequences..." Quoted from the 'Spiral Zone' Wikipedia Article: On June 18, 2007 renegade military scientist Dr. James Bent uses a hijacked space shuttle to drop his deadly Zone Generators across half of the Earth, a region called the Spiral Zone (due to its shape...

Re: The Clone Wars Season 4.
Agreed. This arc has been both thematically and visually very impressive. Pong Krell's fighting style was stunningly effective. Watching it had me wondering how effective Grievous would have been if he had been become force sensitive by Dooku's experiments. Pong Krell's double-double saber method at...

Re: Is the Force an emotion parasite?
Blah blah blah. And my next and final contribution to this discussion is to point out that all throughout the Star Wars EU books, it is described that when you "become one with the Force" after you die, you lose yourself, your entire identity, all of it, your every sense of individuality....

Re: Is the Force an emotion parasite?
To me. Equating the Force with a parasite that feeds on emotion, is like saying gravity is a parasite that feeds on inertia. In the SW Galaxy the force is a part of the galactic constant. The emotions of it's favored are what can damage the user's relationship with it. Not the other way around. The ...

So I take it that these Scientists need a serious dose of sci-fi horror movie education.
Thank the makers that this isn't called project Arrowhead or the like. When I read of this kind of experiment being planned all I can think of is Stephen King's: The Mist.

latest episode was nice. good old fashion star wars battle! Krell is showed as asshole, but the Jedi so far were portrayed in a good fashion. Krell is the first Jedi that i saw that's a douche. Here are the major threat vectors for the the "Thing" to exploit against the 40K Milky Way galaxy: >If the "Thing" gets access to the webway, yeah... >The thing infects members of the Imperial Guard, they get sent all over the place. >It gets access to the Nids and they do not of...

Re: Star Wars versus The Thing
For what it's worth, TVtropes makes reference to a Dark Horse comic which states that the Thing cannot assimilate plant life, so there's that at least. Wait, why the hell not? What reason is given for that? There wasn't any mention in the movie or novella regarding plants either way, so why the hel...

So uhm basically Kojiro the TL-DR summary is: You do not like various aspects of the newest accumulated revisions and in your view WH40K-5th is a bad game because of them. FWIW: I agree. RT:WH40K was simplisted enough compared to Battletech, Car Wars, OGRE, etc. And compared to many TT miniature gam...

Re: Star Wars versus The Thing
The idea that the Thing wasn't really looking for a fight or to eat the world is interesting, I do think it wants to eat the world, any world. But in the SW Galaxy it can most certainly take a very patient and effective route. Remember it has to fuel it'self just like any life form. In the Sw Galax...

Hell, I could easily see the infected posing as Republic relief forces and only dropping the facade when it's too late to fight back. The Thing is an incredibly scary piece of work. Other than being unerringly tuned to survival. There is not really much known of the Thing's other motives and inclin...

Re: Star Wars versus The Thing
The SW Galaxy is 'F'd in the 'A' by the "Thing". The incredibly fast transportation abilities in SW give it the very capacity that hinders it the most. Hyperdrive craft would allow it to spread in way that would make The Flood positively pouting with envy. When the TFAW (Thing From Another...

Re: WH 40K: 5th Edition (Opinions?)
Speaking of Deathwatch, it's interesting that 40K-RP is any many ways supplanting the core miniatures game. Fantasy Flight Games have, ironically, been doing a much better job of not only keeping 40K on track, but also writing new fluff that fits within the setting and fleshes it out in a cohesive,...

Re: WH 40K: 5th Edition (Opinions?)
I appreciate how you may enjoy the new stuff. But as someone who has been a fan since: 'Rogue Trader', it just doesn't sit well with me on the fluff level. The rules have improved though in my opinion. It may just be a "generation gap" thing going on for me.
