Well, you just got me to post for the first time in more than two years so there's something.

New Livingston Honorverse RAR!
This is an Idea I came up with earlier today while running the carpet cleaner at my school. Exodus Early in the 15th century PD A trio of colony ships set out from the system Beowulf. All together they carry a total population of three hundred thousand people. They are on the way to a system located...

Re: Plan Earth's Defense! [3 Body Problem]
Can these sophons prevent accidental or random discoveries? There seems to be a slight misconception on how new technologies and forms of science are developed. We don't just build big "science-y" machines for doing "the science" turn them on and just set back to see what happens...

Re: Suprising shared universes
gigabytelord is referring, I believe, to the Tommy Westphall hypothesis; that the bulk of television fictional universes are actually the product of an autistic child's private imagination as per the series finale of St. Elsewhere, a 1980's medical procedural drama linking the X-Files, Seinfeld, Fr...

Suprising shared universes
So I just did some accidental reading and found an article that states that Buffy the Vampire Slayer, the Alien series, the Predator series, Senerity/Firefly, Bladrunner, Soldier, and the Escape from *insert city here* movies are all in the same shared universe. Now I know minor crossovers and easte...

Re: Farscape Reboot RAR
I should add that you know everything about the other Sci-fi universes that you actually know IRL just like Farscape. The only thing you don't know is which one you'll open a wormhole too.

You for all intents and purposes are John and have his skills. The story hasn't changed only the actor and this you have both more info and new gadget.

Farscape Reboot RAR
I'm gonna keep this simple. You replace John Crichton with two little differences. First, you have seen the series and have knowledge of all Farscape canon. Second, during the trip through the wormhole that dumps you into the battle in the first episode a small devise is attached to your ship by act...

Re: Uk Referendum on The EU Announced for 23rd June.
The term, as proven by your link, is anachronistic. It has no modern relevance. Even in the deepest deep of the south of which I am from too the number of people who seriously want to leave the union is vanishingly small. Perhaps it's an artifact of me being from Texas then. I just assumed it was m...

Re: Uk Referendum on The EU Announced for 23rd June.
Here in the states I would politically be referred to has a "Unionist"... You would most certainly not be referred as such as no such thing exits. I am an American from the south. I am opposed to any and all attempts to dissolve the union and support a strong central government. Before th...

Re: Uk Referendum on The EU Announced for 23rd June.
If I might add an (another) american point of view to this mess. Like in most major political issues I find myself very much divided on the Brexit problem. On the one hand I'm completely in favor of a united Europe under the EU with a single currency and a unified government that is capable of levyi...

Re: The Warp is replaced by The Force (RAR!)
Jesus H. Christ They changed it in the 5th ed codex now they've changed it back? Can they not make up their minds? Is warp use official, as in codex official, or did they just not mention that either? I'm asking because I don't have 6th ed. and I've not read Shield of Baal. Thanks for the correction...

Re: The Warp is replaced by The Force (RAR!)
How exactly would the necrons not be affected by this? They use something called a "dolmen gate" to cut little holes in the webway to travel ftl, if the warp is gone then the necrons are just as fucked as everyone one else.

Re: World of Warships
Currently playing one US CV match per session. The load times give me cancer as I pray everytime "dear god, please let me get into this game before the IJN CV strikes me". BTW, playing a US strike CV literally means you assume the IJN CV is either very nice or an idiot. Because the US CV ...

I've recently got back into both WoT and WoWs and I'd probably play more often if I had people to play with and platoon up with. Human and machine resilience toward radiation
I've Recently found this article and it made me wonder about not only the long term survival of humans but also the machines that will keep us alive should we ever venture forth into deep space. The machines is this article were clearly built specifically to withstand the immense radiation of such a...

Re: Dreadnought or Mothership (RAR!)
The aim would be to so cripple the enemy infrastructure that they cannot sustain a war for very long whereas I can. I launch the raid then stand on the defensive, with the advantage of fixed defenses, nearby repair yards and so forth. They can attack with their extant forces but they can't realisti...

Re: Dreadnought or Mothership (RAR!)
What about the all to human "cold war" or "weapons race" outcome? If the enemy finds out that you're building a new class of super-capital ship they might decide to match you super-capital for super-capital even if they do have a FTL speed disadvantage. As far as we know the new ...

Re: nBSG meets Honorverse
For the purposes of making things a bit more interesting lets say that the colony ship has basic but hopelessly out of date point defense and offensive armament. Not warship level but maybe the kind weapons you might find on a Hauptmann(sp?) owned passenger liner. Even if it's, say, pre-17th or 16th...

Re: nBSG meets Honorverse
Did the colonies suddenly poof into existence or what? Because with them being merely 50 ly from Basilisk and having an at least 20th century technology society I don't see the Honorverse (which has been FTL spacegoing for centuries at this point) NOT having run across them before. I'll revise it t...

Re: nBSG meets Honorverse
eta: Okay, that was my thoughts on just a general contact scenario. This stl colony ship from Beowulf has me a bit perplexed. How much standard Honorverse knowledge are they supposed to have? Beowulfians will have a lot of medical tech and knowledge of genetics but that's going to have a limited ef...
