Re: Multiculturalism v Cultural Appropriation

This is a very subjective and difficult question to answer, as there will always be some people who object to any kind of multiculturalism / cultural appropriation. That being said, IMO the intentions of the parties involved and what aspect of the culture they are appropriating are perhaps the most ...

Re: Ruth Ginsburg dies

I don't really buy it. Republican voters have proven hateful and self-destructive even in the face of direct personal consequences. 100% Republicans and their supporters are already at war with Democrats. And anything goes in war, with the victor getting the spoils and writing the history books. Tr...

If the federal government pulls it's funding from NYC, whatever that means, does the city still have to pay federal taxes?
Fascist regimes aren’t exactly known for being fair. NYC would still be paying full federal taxes even if minorities are being hunted and shipped into concentration camps.

I don’t think Trumps supporters even care if he did. After all he already claimed that he could grab women by the pussy and do whatever he wanted to them, and was voted into office.

It’s more like the world wars were one of the only times in US history (If not the only times) where their intervention could be seen as a net positive, at least when compared to the forces they were opposing. On either side the rest of the time is almost always some kind of US conquest.

Re: SUPERTHREAD: 2020 United States Elections

There's rumours of Trump refusing to leave office if/when he loses so it wouldn't surprise me. It's not a rumor, he has stated outright that he's not ruling it out. Ya, Trump has been saying years now that Democrats cannot legitimately win the election and it is rigged against him. Hell he even cal...

But..but...rule of law. I mean Western nations have rule of law don't they? Also I am interested to see the people who say they feel Assange should face rape charges but opposed extradition to the US on espionage charges. Since Sweden has chosen not to prosecute they should be shouting for As...

Re: Medicare will be bankrupt in 2024 due to Trump

The ironic thing is that much of the higher economic output under Trump's presidency is a consequence of the fact that it was a result of the Republicans largely throwing out austerity as an ideology. They only seem to argue in favor of the need for austerity when they are not in the White House. V...

Re: Medicare will be bankrupt in 2024 due to Trump

A long term goal for Republicans has been to get rid of the ACA and Medicare so I imagine they are cheering at the news. Doubly so as they’ll get to blame Democrats for their mess. Doubt there actually will be any actual thinking other than reflexive no new taxes and Socialism kill your grandma. It...

Re: COVID-19 ongoing thread part 2

Maybe instead of trying to poach cheaper drugs from other countries (which could potentially drive up costs in those countries depending on the degree) Americans should regulate their pharmaceutical sector better? That would first require Americans to understand the flaws of their health system and...

Yeah. That'll happen. The purpose of the US medical and pharmaceutical sector isn't to help people get better. It's to make rich people get richer. And the purpose of the Canadian medical and pharmaceutical sector... should be to provide medical and pharmaceutical care to Canadians first. So long a...

David Pakman brought up a good point. With Americans barred from entry to other countries, those who rely on drugs from Canada and Mexico are no longer able to do so. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hblc81UzyhE If you don't want to watch a youtube video, a quick google search shows CNN wrote a piec...

Half.

Their limited understanding of the content consists of “whites are bad, non-whites are good.” They of course don’t want to promote either.

And the fun thing is even after including ROS Star Wars tech is still only upper middle tier, at best :P

They may be able to scale down a planet killer weapon into an ISD, but a bunch of Daleks can cobble together a planet killer weapon made of scrap and fit it into a guy’s chest. :P

I’ll give Trump credit where it’s due - other American presidencies have been just as nasty on occasion, but they were usually pretty good at pretending to act civilly. Trump can’t be bothered and has dropped all pretence, so at least any lingering belief that Americans are reliable and trustworthy ...

Not really surprised, Trump never had any intention of honouring the updated NAFTA to begin with (which has only been in force for a Month). Well, ya. Republicans have no problems committing voter fraud, and are increasingly ok with openly admitting it too. And they’ll have no issue with using this as an example as to why Democrat voter fraud is a massive threat in order to suppress Democrat voter turnout further. Without even blinking a...

That does cut both ways- as has been mentioned before, theoretically a state could make electors vote for their preferred candidate regardless of the popular vote by removing them and replacing them by someone willing to toe the party line. This decision makes that easier in that states can now in t...
