Re: Ep7 Reviews (Spoilers)
Why is everyone so baffled about Rey and the force awakening in her, in a movie called The Force Awakens? :D The force probably just was fed up with Luke's angst and decided to kickstart a new light side agent. Personally I think Rey has some Skywalker family connection, too, but we'll just have to ...

Re: Stark Trek Into Darkness *SPOILERS*
As far as the "no ships around Earth" thing I don't see that as a big deal. Admiral Marcus is apparently head of Starfleet, after all. Could be he simply ordered the Earth fleet out to "forward positions" or whatever Even if this is the case, it'd still be weird that no one else...

Re: Stark Trek Into Darkness *SPOILERS*
What happened next just tore me completely out of SoD. They're halfway to the moon; free-fall from rest to the Earth would take about 40 hours. At least I can chalk up the varying gravity to the Enterprise's tumbling, but that 40 hours went pretty damn fast. Exterior shots of the falling ship went ...

Re: Stark Trek Into Darkness *SPOILERS*
Why "Into Darkness"? Maybe because there's a rogue admiral that pulls a Saruman and goes dark because he fears that the Federation will be crushed if it doesn't build warships and starts preemptive striking against the Klingons?

Re: Stark Trek Into Darkness *SPOILERS*
Yeah ok, it still seemed weird that they're close enough to earth to get pulled in and there's just no other ship, maybe not even Starfleet, that would show up worrying about the slugfest. Maybe Admiral Marcus made everyone stand down or something. Still seemed weird to me. This is nothing I got wor...

Re: Stark Trek Into Darkness *SPOILERS*
Saw it yesterday, liked it quite a bit. Minor annoyances include the lensflares, and plot wise I thought the old "there's no other ships around at all" trope was pretty stupid, especially when you consider the insane warp speeds. Overall, the turns and twists work, even if some of them are...

Re: What's a good oldish free MMORPG to play nowadays?
LOTRO should run fine on your older rig with lower settings, at least in the older areas - they went pretty wild with the newest Rohan areas, but if you're just starting out, it'll be a good while before you set foot into Rohan anyways.

Re: "Falling Skies" Season 2 (spoilers)
What I really dislike about Falling Skies is how each and every one of the characters is utterly incapable of actually talking about important stuff. Like when Ben says "I know what the aliens are all about" and Tom's answer is not "You do? Great! Tell me!" - stuff like that make...

Re: Nexus 7
I got a Kindle Fire as a christmas gift from my workplace last year and it's pretty usable once you flash CM7 or CM9 (anything is better than the awful Amazon skin). Of course now I wish it was a Nexus 7, not a Fire :D But yeah, Android is usable and pretty enough on its own by now. I replaced my Ga...

Re: new elder scrolls online screenshot
I think that going back to generic fantasy for one game would've been fine, Tamriel was still nice, and the expansion brought plenty weirdness (in a forced "hey look how wacky"-way, but still). But they really shouldn't have gone Skyrim with TESV, Skyrim, apart from the Dwemer ruins and Bl...

Re: new elder scrolls online screenshot
TES Online is being made by Zenimax Online, who are completely seperate from Bethesda. Didn't know that, interesting. Anyways, I agree that the same old system under a new skin so to speak is getting old. For all the things wrong with it, the Age of Conan combat system e.g. really was a lot more fu...

Re: new elder scrolls online screenshot
Also, judging by the huge smash hit TES has been since Morrowind... how is this "selling out"? Don't tell me you think Beth didn't want to make money before. On a more serious note: this will be interesting, an MMO is not something mods can "fix" so Beth really has to think a lot...

How do you go from "they'll make an ES MMO" to "RPGs are going away"?

It's all an alternate reality anyways, because I didn't notice any Eugenic wars spoiling my enjoying Fresh Prince.

Re: Why Star Trek’s Vision of the Future is Out of Date
Of course Star Trek won't happen, in ST human augmentation is outlawed since the 1990s or something like that. So, yeah.

Re: Star Trek Online is free
Sci is in a bit of a sorry state right now anyways, my sci captain is in an MVAE because I didn't have too much fun with all the sci skills. I'd wait with buying sci ships right now, I wish I hadn't shelled out for the Intrepid retrofit myself. Anyways, the MVAE is really cool. It has nice alternati...

I for one still don't get what's supposed to be fun about shuttle missions But maybe a real group mission is different.

Ghetto edit: I just read that getting that crap from a gold lockbox is a bug: http://forums.startrekonline.com/showpo ... stcount=16 - guess I should open a ticket.

Re: Star Trek Online is free
They sell for pretty insane prices... just sell it and you can afford a couple of keys for your next one
I opened a gold box yesterday and got... 5 eng/aux batteries. Yay. Definitely I would have paid a buck for... not.

Re: Star Trek Online is free
I've seen one gold box so far, in a normal mode STF. Didn't win the need roll, though. And so far I've not succumbed and paid either EC or CP for master keys, I never liked the Ferengi ships (OP console or not) and the Cardi box showed me that random number generators never like me anyways

Re: Star Trek Online is free
You can also indirectly exchange dilithium for energy credits by e.g. buying crafting materials with dil and putting them on the exchange. I haven't checked if it's economically smarter to get keys this way or by just exchanging directly to c-points. (Smartest thing to do is to not play this lottery...

Re: Star Trek Online is free
Yeah, this new lockbox thing is pretty disgusting. I don't care about the I-Win Ferengi ship, wouldn't fly one anyways, ugly little buggers they are. But that whole new currency store with ridiculous prices considered what lockbox keys cost... wow, just wow.

You can target your team members with F1 - F5, or by klicking their portrait, no mouse whipping required ;) And seriously, even I in my escort can spare my heals most of the time when I don't have aggro. When I see the cruiser next to me being bashed they get TSS and HE. Sure, anyone should be able ...

Re: Star Trek Online is free
Can't you just buy whatever you want through the C-Store without having a character with the right level? Never tried it, but I'm curious. The T5 Excelsior is really nice, it tanks like a beast, is relatively nimble (for a cruiser) and can dish out serious DPS. From the lower tier C-Store ships, the...
