Re: China's New Leader Signals Signs of Economic Reform

The double standard lies in the fact its wrong for China to dredge up the past for <insert reason here> but its ok for others to dredge up the past. You have done it numerous times on various topics on this board including in regards to China. In fact you did it right here. The only reason I seem t...

Re: China's New Leader Signals Signs of Economic Reform

So let's see, the West ransacked pillaged and colonized China and filled it with opium with the direst consequences for China's development. Japan slaugthered dozens of millions of Chinese, colonized pillaged and raped China so hard it still hurts and never apologized. Now China is no longer the we...

Re: Looking for good frozen pork potstickers

I call them potstickers, but I saw them referred to as dumplings as well in the store. Whichever ones I can steam or pan-fry. My amazement has been corrected by Sherry. They're called Jiǎozi when prepared boiled, but something that literally translates as 'potsticker' when fried in a pan. My mind w...

He still has great technical expertise and that's exactly the subject. In short that book clearly explains that it would be perfectly possible for a small group of dedicated researchers to create disease that could kill millions, possibly billions. And that was possible back in the 70's. Bio-scienc...

Re: British Army takes month off

If few people live in barracks, it would make the entire notion even more absurd since savings would be so greatly reduced, and that still leaves the little issue of troops overseas. I assume barracks is being used in the same way it is in Australia, as a synonym for base rather than a specific liv...

But Stark are the factions identifiably different on the map?! Because that is what ruined fc2! I was actually going to ask you this morning. I won't get a chance to play it till February, but disappointed to hear that they abandoned so much of what was good in the previous game. To be fair it does ...

Re: British Army takes month off

Talk of coups and soldiers sleeping on the street is a little melodramatic, even the critics of the move quoted in the article don't suggest soldiers would be unhappy with it - and how many of those 100,000 would actually live in their barracks? In Australia even young enlisted will often marry/clai...

Re: Patton vs. Rommel vs. Zhukov

By asking about 'tactics' you're really asking for a description of how the US, German and Soviet armies fought during the war, as none of the three mentioned were particularly innovative - although Zhukov can probably claim a much greater influence on doctrine than Rommel and Patton.

Don't presume that the hockey minor leagues are a big deal in Canada just because you can Google that they exist. There are baseball minor leagues in the US, and they aren't a big deal. College football in the US, on the other hand, is a big deal. I'm not presuming that they're a big deal, nor do I...

Re: Australia's seat on the UN security council

I'm sure you can make an argument for it, but not sure that $24 million is representative either - we won the seat on the back of African votes, which have been delivered by AusAID's brand new African aid program. A program created, as I understand it, purely to win those votes increase our engageme...

I seriously think Teeth of the Tiger was ghostwritten though. For one thing it isn't a 2000 page impenetrable tome.

It looks like another Spore to me: huge amounts of Cool Ideas but not much of a clearly defined game beneath it. Really? I would have said the exact opposite. It's a remake of a game from 1995 Total Annihilation, but with a slightly bigger battlefield and a super weapon with a slightly bigger boom....
