The downsize in fighter compliments could simply be due to a shift in tactics and doctrine. With the increasing size of capships by the time of ANH, and their resepective shielding and firepower increases, fighters may simply be obsolete, or at the very least another tool in warfighting. Star Wars: ...

I have to agree with Mr. Sinister. It definitely took on the atmosphere of the classic trilogy and his assessment of the Owen/Anakin relationship is spot on. Even more so, I think that it would better reveal the bitterness felt towards Obi-Wan in Ep. IV when talking with Luke and the sadness when di...

Don't confuse straight-line acceleration with dogfighting. You wouldn't dogfight at full speed, stresses on the vehicle and the human body precludes this. Look at modern fighters. An F15 can do better than mach 2.5, but it certainly wouldn't dogfight at that speed, dogfights occur below the speed of...

Here's a possible solution to the projectile issue. This could be used underneath the metal/plastic/ceramic armor plating to handle the projectiles.

Hmmm, something like this I think: Picard: Open hailing frequencies. This is Captain Jean-Luc Picard of the Federation Starship Enterprise, we come in peace and seek mutually advantageous contact. Troi: Captain, I sense something-Urk! (Blood spurts from Troi's nose and ears, she collapses to the flo...

There is a film at this site (bottom of the page Starfish A) of the test in question. Pretty cool footage. Perhaps a knowledgable person could explain the visuals of a nuclear detonation in the upper atmosphere?

You know, after reading the debate a couple times, I am starting to wonder if Stewart isn't trying to include the asteroids in the Hoth belt in his atmospheric density argument. Stewart wrote: The interaction that I cite has nothing to do with the environment, just the asteroid it self is enough to ...

I can understand some of these points...but have to say, why would the Emperor choose a tower with a shaft that leads directly to the reactor? This is the DS2!! There have to be a thousand towers scattered over the completed portion of the hull...surely there must be SOME towers that have a nice big...

Engineering Oddities?
While there have been more than enough oddities, flaws and downright stupid issues with Trek, has anyone noticed any issues with Wars engineering? The only one that leaps to mind immediately is the shaft to the DS2 reactor in the Emperor's throne room. And if anyone can explain that one away, I woul...

The seperatists should get their own damn clones, otherwise it really doesn't justify the name clone wars (unless the clones somehow turn on their masters). Personally I think there is a lot to get set straight with Ep III and I am very intersted in seeing how GL pulls this off. And very skeptical t...

Actually, the Cloud City main computer told him the drive was disabled. Likely told him how to given the speed with which R2 fixed it. Have to give this one to the astromechs. Mobility, design, intelligence and independence of thought will get them done first...likely improving on the original desig...

IIRC from ANH the graphic representation from the pilot's briefing depicted the torp delivered to the core from the exhaust vent. Detonation there would have caused the chain reaction. While there were no depicted turns in the graphic, I find it hard to believe that an exhaust vent (how many?) kilom...
