Darth Lucifer wrote: 2020-03-11 11:17pm The problem here is that I don't think we've ever seen many alien vessels go to warp speed in Berman Era Trek;
Ferengi vessel did it in Peak Performance.

Klingon ships have done it in DS9 a few times.

Re: Discovery Series 2 News

A thought comes to mind: How often did the other Trek series face things that were a threat to the entire Federation ? With the Season 2 trailer , STD has given us three: - Klingon war. - Mirror universe killing all the spores, wiping out all life in all universes. - Those red flares in the trailer...

Re: Federation on the Political Compass

The only thing I can recall that might be classed as a passenger ship is one mentioned in TOS's "The Conscience of the King," where the actors are travelling to another world on a ship called the Astral Queen . There is also mention of drone ships/robotic freighters in "The Ultimate ...

I prefer that idea to the idea of the Breen having cloaking devices.

Re: Star Trek 4 gets a director

Their headline is slightly misleading since the TV show's have had female directors I'm sure. Roxanne Dawson and Gates McFadden have both directed. Dawson's main job now I think is directing. McFadden's been a choreographer and unit director before for motion pictures like Labyrinth. Dawson's done ...

Re: Romulan first strike capacity: the strategic value of cloaked ships

It could work, but it'd have to be done carefully and quickly. We know that when Romulan ships get close to Federation sensors, even cloaked, they are detected. DS9's Visionary shows this. Also The Die is Cast they were detectable when at warp as a massive subspace displacement - same as the Klingon...

if you use the data gleaned from his experiments you're effectively condoning his methods, Well I think the point of the episode was that it's not necessarily effectively condoning. I mean, what, the implication being that other scientists will think 'oh that's ok then' and do stuff they wouldn't d...

While I accept that the point of it is to discourage crime, encourage nationalism, and serve as an easy way to dispose of political rivals, it also seems inefficient and a bit cartoonishly evil on its own. They're a fascist military regime at that point. Show trials are normal. As for how strong th...

I don't see how that tiny bomb is going to trigger a giant water-magma vaporization reaction. Genesis did a lot more with roughly the same amount of stuff - and that's only 20 odd years in the future. Then you have that (urgh) 'cold fusion bomb' they had in Into Darkness which exploded and... froze...
